Dr. Karen Dawn Todd, MD

I found Dr. Todd uncaring and a very poor doctor. I had cataract surgery and she wanted to up-sell me on special lenses. After my surgeries I complained about the first eye she had done and she refused to check it telling me it was fine. Two days later I had a hemorrage and retina tear in the eye she refused to examine. STAY AWAY from her!

My first review was excellent. However, I got something in my eye outside and it hurt. I called the Institute but was told that Dr. Todd was going home and that she couldn't see me. This is not good. Why become a MD if you won't handle emergencies. I was and remain upset. Of course, most Florida doctors don't want emergencies.

Experience a terrible disappointment. My vision deteriorated under her care. Happier with a new ophthalmologist.

Dr. Todd is smart but overbooked and hasty and impatient with questions that take up her time. If you are looking for a thoughtful, sympathetic listener who will seriously consider your own feedback in forming her diagnoses, better look elsewhere. I was quite disappointed with the way she seemed to distance herself after a procedure did not go well. She left me feeling that I was either being over-sensitive or exaggerating the deterioration in my sight following the operation, or even that the problem was somehow my fault. Eventually I lost confidence in the sincerity of her interest in problem-solving my situation. Her suite of rooms is festooned with large testimonials from grateful patients, but I have now encountered several other former patients who, like myself, did not feel that their impressions or concerns had been taken seriously.

Dr. Todd is a remarkable professional. She always has time for her patients; she is incredibly competent; her staff is indescribably amicable and knowledgeable. I had cataract surgery and I couldn't believe the level of service that Dr. Todd and her staff provided from minute one through the entire process. It was the most pleasant, comfortable, relaxing experience I have had in any doctor's office.
