Dr. Karen Swavely Troxell, MD

Our family went through a very frightening experience with this anesthesiologist a few months ago. My brother was supposed to get a colonoscopy and, in my opinion and others, Dr. Troxell did not administer this simple anesthesia properly. She gave excuses for my brother choking and having a very difficult time breathing after she administered the anesthesia. Dr. Troxell didn't act very professional or as concerned as I personally feel she should have acted. My brother, many of our other family members and friends have had several colonoscopies in the past. NONE of us have ever had any problems with the administering of this simple anesthesia! An excellent surgeon in Lancaster performed all our colonoscopies and has "extremely" competent, caring and experienced anesthesiologists. After giving this situation much thought and receiving expert advice, I feel we have no option but to return to the experts in Lancaster. It will be much more driving but will be well worth it for our… peace of mind. I am very disappointed that my brother had to go through the colon prep and then to have the disappointment of not having his colonoscopy. There are more details to this horrible experience but I will end in stating that I am thankful that my brother survived this ordeal.
