Dr. Karen Weed, MD

She is very compassionate and listens to you while looking you in the face. I had a long, pleasurable, fulfilling medical relationship with Dr. Weed. She took time to listen and worked diligently to help me with my medical issues. She gave off not only an intelligent baseline but also she showed that she personally cared. There were several appointments that were scheduled for late in the day so she would have time to get through my list of health and emotional problems including the death of my only child and how it affected my physical health. She worked with me trying different medications until we found a good combination that worked to improve my health care. I was literally heartbroken when she retired, unsure of who would take over my complicated health issues. Luckily, I was moved to Dr. Combs until she too retired. That was another very sad day.

Went in with long history of chronic major depressive disorder, for the last 10 yrs medication resistant. Was extremely depressed, had found out about a newer antidepressant which had helped many other medication resistant patients. (Major component of my depression is financial, $675 net monthly disability income, just over amount to qualify for Medicaid) first thing she said, after leaving the room momentarily to look it up was "It's NOT Vibyrd, it's Vilazodone". Vibyrd is the brand name, no generic yet available. (side note, SHE always calls acetaminophen Tylenol) Then she told me I'd have to have an EKG ($$$) before she'd even CONSIDER prescribing Vibyrd because "along with my methadone it could cause Long QT syndrome". However she was willing to prescribe the antidepressants that had NOT WORKED, she suggested Celexa. Guess what, Celexa CAN cause Long QT syndrome. There are no warnings about Long QT syndrome associated with Vibyrd. She turned me away, told me "therapy" ($$) would… be more helpful. Not only did she NOT help with my depression, the only so called solutions she offered were guaranteed to make my depression WORSE by putting me further in debt.
