Dr Kari K. Mathison, MD

Feels like she treats from a script. Doesn't seem to keep up with current literature. Chastises/ harasses.

I went for a physical as a new patient with Dr. Mathison. She didn't even order standard blood work for me as part of the physical. I'd brought my results from the last physical I'd had (2 years earlier) and I guess since all my results were in the normal range, she didn't think I needed any more testing. When I recently tried to get an appointment, the earliest available date was in 13 months. Maybe she only works part-time..?? But I want a GP I can get an appointment with in a reasonable amount of time if, God forbid, I am really sick. I am shopping around for a new one.

It is very hard to get an appointment- need to book a year in advance and yet she seems to accept new patients at all times. Just know that she is never available when you get sick, only for annual exams. She will also only prescribe the medications that are officially preferred by her group, not what is best for your condition.

Do all doctors now get up to date with your file while you are in the room? I understand things are changing, but I feel that Dr. Mathison is unprepared almost everytime I see her. Certainly there are instances when the doctor has to stop and look something up in your file, but with each visit the doctor and I go over my history. I came prepared before my first visit with Dr. Mathison and she still isn't prepared to see me.
