Dr. Karl Lauri Damian Astaphan

My husband was thrust upon Dr. Astaphan when he primary care doctor of 20 years stepped down from seeing patients. He had terrible pain in his rectum and went to Express Care, which is part of our medical center. They diagnosed him as having a hemorrhoid and told him to use Prep. H. It didn't work and got worse. He got in to see Dr. Astaphan (it was his 2nd time seeing him) and without a thorough exam said he had a fissure and prescribed suppositories and a special compounded ointment. Poor guy suffered with burning and pain for almost 3 weeks and finally got an appointment with a surgeon. The surgeon did a thorough exam and said it was an external hemorrhoid and that the the suppositories and the ointment probably made the problem worse. She told him how to try to treat it, which made a lot of sense so he stopped the other medication today and by tonight was actually feeling somewhat better. The man is not a good doctor. He is no longer at that facility. They got smart.
