Dr. Karl Julius Edelmann

Dr. Edelmann's practice has become a boutique, for the wealthy only practice. If you can afford more than $1,000 a year IN ADDITION TO insurance payments, copays, etc., you'll get the same level of care every patient should receive from every doctor. I switched when the practice converted last year and frankly am receiving a better, more thorough and timely level of care than I did at Dr. E's even before the switch. Just another symptom of our atrocious, for-profit health care system.

I was a patient at the office for over 10 years. Early on Dr Edelmenn gave me the impression that he didn't really care about what I was saying. But Mark (the PA) was super helpful. So I always just saw Mark because he was very very professional and polite. Sandy the nurse is also awesome. I have no idea how she has been there for so long and dealt with everyone else. Mark is unfortunately now gone. The front desk staff is generally unpleasant and slow. Also Karl is now doing a "pay extra for premium service" thing which I find horrible since health care already costs a ton. And I know that I'm not paying extra money for a Dr that isn't very pleasant in an office that has been terribly outdated forever. Especially when there are tons of good family care physicians in Ann Arbor who don't pull gimmicks like this.

My visit was fine with Dr. Shannon at Dr. Edelman's practice. However, they have just started robocalling patients and sending junk mail. I don't know why greed for business has taken over this practice. But stay far away! These people may be excellent doctors, but their main interest is in your wallet, not you.

Dr. Edelmann is a wonderful doctor. He has a great personality and is very caring. But you need to know that Dr. E. is now a member of MDVIP. For those of you who don't know what that means, it means that to be a patient, you have to enroll in their annual wellness program at a cost of $1800 per year, per person. Dr. E. is going down from 4000 patients to just 400. For those of us who are on fixed incomes, that cost is not viable. That cost is just for becoming a member of this wellness country club but is not the only cost. You still will have to pay for office visits and other costs. Now, you will be getting a lot of perks with this program but it does not help those of us who cannot afford the program. I understand that he has to do what he has to do. I wish him well, but I do admit that I feel like last week's trash that just got put on the side of the road.

Susie is really rude and wants to control the conversation. When you ask a question that really the nurse (btw sandy is wonderful) should be answering, Susie stone walls you with her answer to your question and sighs when transfers you to the nurse. I will not be going back because of her horrible customer service skills. Even when you are pleasant to her, she is not pleasant back. Dr. Eddlemann is a very nice man, and it is a shame that myself and many others will not return back due to the lack of courtesy and respect from the office staff...well this particular office lady. She needs to go to training for customer service basis 101!

Dr. Edelmann and the PA's (especially Mark) have always been kind and compassionate to my family members and I. I personally preferred to see Mark (who is leaving! :( ) because he just seems to get me and he doesn't have political views he pushes on me. I wouldn't hesitate to see any of the three. The previous front office staff was very kind and polite, however, the last few times I have called the office staff has been very rude and last time I was there the person who checked me out smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke that I almost puked (and that is saying a lot since I am an ex-smoker and my husband still smokes.). I was kind of surprised by that since I was at a doctor's office. My husband has some pretty complex health issues (get your flu shots people) and this office has been able to refer him to specialists and help coordinate the type of care he has required. So other than the office staff, I am very pleased with this physician's office.

He is extremely arrogant and treats patients as if their opinions are not valid. When he is challenged he gets annoyed and eventually he verbally attacked me and said to find another doctor. He was incredibly rude, unprofessional and condescending. i have never been treated that badly.

When I first moved to Michigan 4 years ago I was fretful wondering if I could find a good Family Doctor. I got lucky when I went on-line and found Dr. Edelmann. His wonderful staff got me in for an appointment. During that first visit I knew I had found the Doctor for me. Dr. Edelmann is medically smart with great bedside manners. He always listened to my concerns. Once during a visit I told him I thought I broke my wrist. He moved my wrist in different positions and told me he was sure it was tendinitis. I dealt with the pain for awhile until he told me I should see a specialist. I told the specialist that I thought I broke it. He asked me what my Doctor thought it was and I told him. After an x-ray the specialist came back and told me that I must have a really good Family Doctor because he was spot on with his diagnosis. It was tendinitis. After a shot of cortisone I've not had any more problems with it. Dr . Edelmann is the best Doctor I've ever had. His whole staff is awesome. … From the ladies at the front desk to Mark and Peter the NP's and Sandy the assistant. OMG Sandy, I just can't say enough good things about her. Recently, my husband accepted a job offer back home in Indiana. I'm thrilled about getting back home to my family and friends but once again I'm facing trying to find a Doctor thats a good fit for me and the medical issues I have. I have an appointment this month that I'm still planning on going to unless I can find someone half as good as Dr Edelmann. But it may take months before an Indiana Doctor can fit me in. I would highly recommend Dr Edelmann to anyone out there in the Ann Arbor or surrounding areas looking for a good Doctor. In my experience he's been the best Doctor ever. Thank you Dr. Edelmann for helping me have a better quality of life over the last 4 years.

Have been seeing the staff at Dr. Edelmann for 18 years. I've never been happier. Everyone from the receptionist to Dr. Edelmann have been wonderful!!
