Dr. Karl John Valentine, MD

Went in to get my toe stitched up. I asked the nurse if I would be numbed, she said yes. When Dr. Valentine time came in and started cleaning the wound, I asked to be numbed. he ignored me and continued on. I asked again before he stitched me. He again ignored me. I asked if I would feel, I thought maybe that's why he wasn't numbing me. He said, "Oh, you'll feel it." When I mentioned I was upset with him for not numbing the area, he made excuses about not having anything to numb with. Nothing to numb with at an urgent care... Right. So, he lied too. Personally, I think Dr. Valentine shouldn't be practicing anymore if he's that out of touch with a patient's needs. The cut hurt. He cleaned it out, stitched it, and prodded it afterward with rough gauze which hurt even more. I wasn't asking for the moon, I was asking for a numbing shot... I have never felt less listened to or valued by any doctor. The nurse was shocked. She was the only saving grace in this situation. I declined… pain killers, but opted for the lidocaine cream in case the cut was sore due to where it was. Dr. Valentine prescribed a $115 3% lidocaine cream Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield doesn't even cover. The pharmacist was looking out for me and recommended a 4% OTC lidocaine cream that was $7. Fortunately I have had stitches before, because he provided no written aftercare instructions and told me to take the stitch out myself in 7 days. What the heck?! Do not go to this Access Urgent Medical Care on Hill Rd in Pickerington and run the other way if you find yourself with Dr. Karl Valentine.

Bedside manner is non existent. Very grumpy demeanor. Changed his mind about my treatment right before I left his office making me question his true knowledge as a Dr. I do not recommend Dr. Valentine.

I had a mean UTI and believe me I really didn't need the problem diagnosed except to the extent the Dr needed to collect enough evidence to justify ordering an antibiotic. He was pleasant and spent enough time with me to provide the care needed. Thank you Dr Valentine.

Do not see this doctor under any circumstances. Go to the ER instead.

I think he was very interested in making sure I was diagnosed properly. He was efficient and the diagnosis was correct.

Do not go to Access Urgent Medical Care of UA or be seen Dr. Karl J. Valentine, MD. You will be seen by the Dr. for 5 minutes or less and be over billed for the consultation.

There was a lot of weird in this urent care appointment. The doctor quickly concluded I was depressed and sent me away with Paxil.

Dr. Valentine was very rude during my THREE minute appointment. He made sexist jokes, asked me if I was faking or really sick...etc...Guess what I was really sick and had to end up going to another doctor as the medication he prescribed to me I have an allergy to and he refused to change it. This guy is totally ridiculous and it's time he retired if he hates his profession and his patients this much.

I would not recommend Dr. Valentine to any others - he seemed disnterested, distracted - was not very communicative or helpful and had an off-handed and impatient demeanor that I found personally offensive.
