Dr. Kate Elisabeth Lowenthal, MD

Dr. Lowenthal is a gem. Besides being an expert in her field, she is impossibly nice. She is empathetic, a great listener, thoughtful, nonjudgmental, and just plain smart about finding solutions to whatever ails your skin. I've been one of her highly satisfied patients over the past five years. She's moved on to a new practice, which you can find if you Google it.

Dr Kate Lowenthal is the nicest dermatologist I have ever met. She listened to me, took me serious, was informed about my rare skin condition and didn't make me feel uncomfortable like other dermatologists have. The upstairs ladies were OK, the other nurse was super super nice too. So personable, which is a refreshing change.

My Husband and I were Dr. Lowenthal's parients at her former practice on 60th street since she started there 6/7 yrs ago (I believe) She is extremely thorough doing yearly exams and has a wonderful bedside manner. We are following her to her new location, and would have been willing to pay out of pocket if necessary even though we have Blue Cross Blue shield PPO. I had been told on four occasions that they do not accept our insurance (even out of network) but after looking for a new doctor and coming up empty I called again to make an appointment(willing to pay 100%) and was told that she does accept our insurance at her 95th street location. l am thrilled I got an appointment, and that I didn't have to pay in cash.I was also told they always accepted the insurance. The Reason to was so persistent at first as it seemed quite unusual so I called both offices 2x on different days(annoying I know but even with doctors that accept 'no' insurance they always offer to give you… the paper work you need to file independently, unfortuantely I know this after many doctor visits and surgeries over the past 10 years) That is the only reason she got low score on ease of making an appointment which sadly has nothing to do with her. I hope going forward her staff is better informed so that she doesn't lose patients. It is hard to find such s competent lovely doctor. Dr. Lowenthal is the type of doctor you would have expected To find before HMO's took over. In that her patients are more Important that her time limits. If it is a yearly exam you are looking to get book 1 1/2 months in advance. You will be happy you did.
