Dr. Katherine Anne Barton, MD

Dr. Barton is a very kind and thorough doctor. I have received care from her since May 2020 for multiple tumors. She is very straightforward and to the point which I really like. She recently performed a lumpectomy on me and I felt very safe and taken care of through the whole process. I will return for care should the need arise in the future.

I went in terrified and expected a woman working at a cancer center to be compassionate and kind. She was neither. I will not go back. I felt belittled. The only time she seemed happy was when she told me about genetic counseling and how I should get it done. All I kept thinking was how much money does she make selling me this? And no thanks to the testing. Just very unhappy with my experience during one of the most stressful times of my life. The office staff is nice but I was told worst case scenario possibilities over the phone to scare me into a biopsy. I just felt like it is business and not a caring doctors office. I would never go back.

Dr. Barton's surgery was successful. But after the surgery she disallowed physical therapy to reduce (and teach me how to reduce) the terrible swelling in my lymph glands after my partial lumpectomy. The result is I will carry scar tissue around the incisions for the rest of my life. Fortunately two other doctors on my team recognized my horrific discomfort and the ugly swelling around my incisions and overrode Dr. Barton's delineation. With physical therapy I can at least sleep on my side again, and control the swelling my breast tissue and right arm. Dr. Barton lacks the personal skills to relate well with most patients.

Dr. Barton performed a surgery for me that disrupted breastfeeding excessively due to her admitted lack of knowledge about lactation. I made her aware that I wanted to continue to breastfeed, and she still made the incision in a place that did not have my plans in mind. She wasn't proactive in treatment during my hospital stay, and I felt like I had to advocate, and even argue, for basic care. On top of that, her bedside manner was poor and disrespectful. She continued to be very rude during conversations when I was visibly upset. She did not demonstrate any compassion and only some competence.. enough to earn one star. Please consider other doctors in this practice.

Very personable and professional I truly felt at ease while at my visit .She was very knowledgeable and friendly I would surely recommend her without reservation...there's a glow about this one she seems to take a lot of pride in what she does...a rarity indeed !

Even in such a difficult situation - I could not have had a better experience than with Dr. Barton and her staff. THANK YOU!

I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Barton and then she operated on me. I developed a huge hernia from her incision and she refused to fix it saying there was nothing wrong. Even though I have a big basketball size bulge right under her incision. Just a terrible doctor.

This Dr. was on call for Emanuel Hospital when my son needed to be admitted for GI procedures and a surgeon on call in case. She refuses quote" I don't want to work on someother surgeons mess" (my son had surgery 2 yrs ago & they think it was to do with blockage)So, instead of caring about someones life he was sent home with the blockage. My son was a victim of a violent crime 2 years ago, his insurance is Victims Assitance only, I wonder if that had any thing to do with it? I thought Dr.s were suppose to help and save people, but I guesas they have forgotten that as they count there money!
