Dr. Katherine L Harvey, MD

This doctor came into my bay for 3 minutes and said we are going to have tests done and admit you. I never seen her again. Another doctor came in and followed up with tests and said he wanted to admit me. She did NOTHING! But charged my insurance company $2158 for those minutes and of that I had to pay $800. I paid the other doctor but it was a FRACTION of what her bill was! I spoke with Kiara in the billing department who was just as useless and they could only say call your insurance company.

I had a laceration in May 2018 that required emergency treatment. I was hesitant to go to the ER as my health insurance wasn’t set to take effect for two more weeks. I had no other choice however. I received 4 sutures and a tetanus shot. I was treated by a really great R.N. and P.A.; not Dr Harvey. I was told I would receive the bill in the mail. Two months later I started getting calls from “HHRG” demanding personal information over the phone like my Social Security number. I refused to give that information. Eventually after some internet research I found out that Dr Katherine is part of a medical group that has HHRG under its ownership. I continued to receive harassing calls from HHRG. I tried to explain that I had not seen a physican in the hospital, and had no idea why I was being charged $1,600 by her, as well as $1,800 from the ER at St Mary’s. I was told “ the Doctor works there and so you have to pay her, whether you see her or not.” I then spoke to a manager with the… Physicinas group Dr Harvey is a part of. I was assured this would be looked into and someone would contact me about it. Well... two months later I received a letter from HHRG the collections group offering a $441 settlement. I made a payment online and was going to pay the remainder after the holidays. Well HHRG called me 3 days later and told me if I didn't pay the additional $331 immediately it was going to be reinstated to the original amount and it would be reported to the credit bureaus as debt. So I was forced to pay or damage my credit, as well as owe an additional $1,000... that is not what I would call adequate treatment by a health care provider, or their representatives. So basically if you go to the ER, insured or not, and in need of emergency treatment you will be charged whatever the Hospital and Dr Harvey feels like charging you after the fact. Even if the Dr never actually treats you... for medical treatment that you need. Let that sink in. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS BEFORE ALLOWING DR HARVEY TO BE YOUR TREATING PHYSICIAN. It screams “it’s all about money and not medicine”. Thank you.
