Dr. Katherine Ann Jett, MD

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Jett for approximately six Or seven years. She was pretty great while she was still with Dr. Gatewood but has steadily declined as she left for her own practice. She used to seem more compassionate and caring but she’s lost that quality. My biggest peeve is the LAPTOP!! While I’m telling her what’s going on with me she’s click clacking away over there with no response. I can tell she’s only partly listening based on some of her responses at the end of the appointment. I mean what is she typing over there. Look at me and talk to me. Ask me questions. Make me think you care. She doesn’t even answer my questions anymore. So I’ve had to resort to moving on to finding a new PCP. My new doctor has already addressed some serious issues after only one visit. Something that should have been caught a long time ago.

I have been a patient of Dr. Jett for several years. I enjoy seeing and talking to her when I get to see her, but I feel that she is too busy, maybe trying to see (or forced to see) too many patients a day, and this affects her rapport with patients. I had an appointment last week. I got caught in traffic from an accident, called the office 25 minutes before my appointment and told them I was on my way but may be a few minutes late. The person who answered the phone told me to call back closer to my appointment time to let them know how traffic was moving; she said their cut-off time was usually 10-15 minutes after the appointment time. I called back 5 minutes before my appointment and told them I was probably 15 minutes out. They said they would check with Dr. Jett to see what she wanted to do then came back to tell me she wanted me to reschedule. At that point I was moving well (probably a little too fast because I took a day off of work just for this appointment and… really didn't want to miss it) and told the office help I was close and coming on in because I had paperwork for the doctor, thought I could make the cut-off time, and really wanted to see her. I walked into the office at 10:10 am. The staff really didn't know what to do with me because I don't think they were expecting me to get there. After a somewhat awkward interaction, one of the staff went back to find out if Dr. Jett was going to be able to see me. I was very surprised when I was told she wanted me to reschedule. WHAT?? The staff member went on to tell me Dr. Jett was running 90 minutes behind and could not fit me in. So, I took a day off, got caught in traffic which made me 10 minutes late, the doctor was running 90 minutes behind at 10:00 in the morning, and she could not fit me in? My 10 minutes was not going to affect her schedule for the rest of the day. I was late and was going to have to wait (probably) another hour for her. But my perception was that it was easier for her to cancel my appointment and gain back the 40 minutes or so she had in her schedule for me. I was gracious, not happy, but after all, I had been late. However, I told the staff that I had paperwork I needed her to fill out so I could get it to another doctor I was using. The staff informed me that she was not going to sign the paperwork until she talked to me. So, I don't know if Dr Jett just has too many patients and too little time, if this is a choice she is making or someone higher up is making, if she needs to hire another PA or Nurse Practitioner. . .i just know that this is not good service to patients.

It appears the Dr. ignores repeated requests to talk to her or else the nurses aren't relaying these requests and questions we ask, or they are instructed not to let patients request to talk to the doctor, I can't say which. I say the latter because in asking the doctor to answer questions the typical response isn't "I'll have the doctor call you" but "Do you want me to get you an answer for that question" even though I have already expllained I've asked for an answer three times with no result. But no matter whose to blame this practice is unacceptable to my family. From 2 hour wait times to test results out of the normal range that do not get addressed by the Dr. at the time and when the Doctor makes a prescription based on the test results no one replies to our repeated questions about the prescription which the pharmacist suggests the doctor should be consulted about before taking. The common reply we get to requests to talk to the Doctor is she has been off today or she will be… out for several weeks. I suspect Baptist medical itself could be the problem allowing doctors more patients than they can handle. Our previous doctor there was Dr. Roberts who left Baptist Medical. Neither she nor Baptist Medical would give us a reason why she was leaving and before she left, for a month, we were told a prescription Dr. Robert's office said was called into our pharmacy 5 times (the pharmacy claimed they never received them even though they called the doctor's office for them) was not delivered because it had to go through Dr. Jett's office since Dr. Roberts was leaving and Dr. Jett's office was the problem.

Dr. Jett take time with you and ask question making sure to get to the bottom of the problem you are having.
