Dr. Katherine Kalthoff, DPM, is a board-certified podiatrist with extensive training and certifications from the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry and is a member of the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons. Dr. Kalthoff is also a clinical professor with the Mercy Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Kalthoff specializes in sports medicine and urgent care, offering same-day office appointments and providing mobile X-rays in the treatment room. She proudly serves as the Urgent Care for Feet provider for Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, and Yolo Counties.

For over 20 years, Dr. Kalthoff has crafted custom arch supports (orthotics) to enhance athletic performance and prevent injuries. She also modifies patients’ shoes to provide proper support and pain relief—allowing them to wear a variety of shoe styles without needing to move orthotics between pairs.

Dr. Kalthoff emphasizes preventive diabetic foot care …and aggressively treats lower extremity wounds. The office offers diabetic shoes with custom-molded inserts for each foot, which are fully covered by insurance at no cost to the patient.

Limb salvage has been her primary focus for the past 25 years. She has saved the limbs of over 10,000 patients through early intervention and innovative treatment approaches. Her dedication to high-quality, patient-focused care ensures every patient's needs are prioritized.

As an urgent care clinic, Foot and Ankle Specialists perform minor procedures immediately—helping patients avoid costly emergency surgeries or amputations that would otherwise require hospitalization.

Dr. Kalthoff grew up in Palo Alto. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Humboldt State University and completed her pre-med studies at San Francisco State University. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Samuel Merritt/California School of Podiatric Medicine and completed surgical residency training at Cedars-Sinai/Midway Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles.
