Dr. Lamond is my bariatric weight loss surgeon and recently performed a sleeve gastrectomy which was successful. Dr. Lamond has a gracious and compassionate bedside manner. She is thorough and detail oriented in her patient care approach. Dr. Lamond was highly attentive to me as a patient throughout my entire surgical process, prior, during and post care. Dr. Lamond is the leader of an amazing medical team at Johns Hopkins Sibley Memorial Hospital Weight Loss Center. A holistic (wholesome) approach creates a foundation for patient long term success and a support team that can’t be beat. Dr. Lamond’s nurse practitioner, Kaitlin Cardile, is an integral advocate who is diligent about patient follow up and medical communications. Additionally, the cross connection with outpatient dietitian, Jodie Hofacre, brings a well-rounded medical campaign to address the necessary life changes and healthcare habits for the patients participating in the program. To date, I am treated with dignity,… respect and empowerment by a team of medical professionals dedicated in supporting my success. Acknowledged with the kindness of compassionate inclusivity while honoring my twenty years of nursing experience, they held me through the arduous journey of being a medical professional becoming a patient. A week or so ago I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Paul. I was told he was unavailable for the next 3 weeks. So I tried to make an appointment with his associate Dr. Lamond. I was told that she was free all day this past Tuesday. So I asked for an 11:30 appointment. I was then told that despite the fact that she was available all day Tuesday, I had to schedule my appointment earlier? When I reiterated my preference for an 11:30 appointment I was rebuffed. An office manager was then put on the line and he scheduled my 11:30 appointment. In anticipation of my appointment I downloaded and filled out the reams of requested documents. I received time off from work so I could attend this Dr. appointment. And then the day of the appointment, as I'm leaving punctually to be on time, 15 minutes early, my phone rings, and it's the Dr's office calling to cancel. This was at around 10:45 before my 11:30 appointment. I was very upset! That said, I was still not feeling well and needed to… see a Dr. so I rescheduled with these folks for Thursday at 2:45. The office manager told me that Dr. Lamond would be available then. So, again I received permission from work to go to see Dr. Lamond. Thursday I readied myself and headed off punctually for my second appointment with Dr. Lamond. Just as I was about to arrive at the office my phone rang. It was Dr. Lamond's office calling me yet again to cancel!! I'm not sure they could understand my fury. All this seemed acceptable and common place for them. I asked to have the office manager call me. He did and actually tried to tell me that I was a valued patient. I asked him to consult with the powers that be to see how they might accommodate me for wasting my time, gas, and energy for the two consecutive canceled appointments. He said he'd get back to me. It's three days later and I haven't heard a word. Why am I not surprised?! If you want to receive abusive, thoughtless, disrespectful treatment, then this is the Dr.'s office for you! Not for me.
