Dr. Katherine Wiltz Lavie, MD

I've seen Dr. LaVie several times for an issue I have been having for several months. She was very friendly and helped alleviate most of my pain and symptoms. Definitely recommend!!

Took a lot of time with me, including a detailed history. Very thorough. Also always on time. Consulted with my other doctor and personally called me to tell me the result of the consultation. Great manner.

Dr. Lavie did nothing to help me. I have had pseudonomeas for 18 months. I got it during sinus surgery. She did not examine me, or talk about treatment options. Dr. Lavie kept saying, "you're not going to get an antibiotic from me." She made the ENT doctor and nurses jump through hoops filling out questionares and faxing results. It took month to get an appointment because she has a small window of time that she sees patients. I told her that the medicine I was taking got rid of it for a while, but then it would come back. I had one culture that prooved I had it, but she did not believe me that it had come back and would not take another culture. My neck lymph nodes swelled like golf balls when I took nothing. The bad smelling green mucous had formed again! It has spread to my other nostril and my ear hurts on that side. Now, I have to start all over with another infectious disease doctor. She also keeps deleting my comments. I reenter it so others don't have to go through what I… went with her. Especially when time is so important to get the infection under control.

The ENT did a culture and it came back as staph, but the second culture came back pseudonomeas. I have seen Dr. Katherine Lavie two times. Both times she did nothing. She didn't look in my nose with a light, run tests, or offer a treatment plan. She told me that I was not going to get an antibiotic " out of her". She told me to go home and take nothing. "Less was more" , she said. I still have pseudonomeas and it has spread to the other nostril. My left ear and my throat hurt also. The nurses worked hard to fax everything she asked for. It took months to get an appointment because she is not from here and travels. It was a waste of time and my disease is getting worse. I wish I never saw her!

The symptoms are red swollen tissue with smelly green mucous. It has spread from surgery site to other nostril and my ear and vocal folds hurt. I have tried many antibiotics but it just keeps coming back. She told me to go home and take nothing. She did not look in my nose with a light, do a culture, or give me any hope for a treatment plan. When I take nothing it comes back and my lymph nodes swell up. The ENT nurses spent a lot of time faxing everything she wanted. I had to wait over 2 months to get an appointment. She left me hurting and without hope. Now I have to start all over with a new Dr. She was arrogant and told me that she was a doctor and that I was not going to tell her what to do. I really give her a zero for effectiveness.

I have seen Dr. Lavie two times. Both times, I left her office in tears. I had nasal surgery 17 months ago and was infected. One doctor did a culture and it came back MSSA Staph. A second doctor did a culture and it came back pseudomoneas. The symptoms have remained the same (red and swollen nostril, with green mucous that smells really bad!). The bones in my nose hurt. I have a red swollen cheek. I have tried many antibiotics and it goes away for a week and then returns. It has spread to the other nostril, and my middle ear on that side hurts. When I decided to see Dr. Lavie she did not offer to examine me, do another culture, or go over treatment options. She kept saying that she was a doctor and that I was not going to tell her what to do. Both times she said to go home and take nothing. I told her that the first time I saw her and did that my lymph nodes in my neck swelled up like golf balls. She was unphased. I asked if she would at least look in my nose. She left and came back… in the examining room angry, with thick purple gloves on (no telling what she touched on the way!). She jammed two thumbs in my left nostril. No pen light in hand to just look. Then, she slid her thumbs over to jam them into the other nostril. I said please wait. I do not want to spread the infection. She walked out. She told me to never come back again. I'm afraid because I don't know where else to go for help. It took alot of paper work faxed over from nurses, and a long time (months) to get an appointment with her. Now I have to start all over with another infectious disease doctor! I thought she would be extremely helpful and professional working in such a specialized field, for a big hospital, and with patients who have a serious diagnosis that could eventually be life threatening.
