Dr. Katherine Y Look

I received care over 10 years ago. I don't believe she is still providing medical care, but I feel I need to add a review in case she does. She knows what she is doing, but she is condescending and belittling. Having a cancer diagnosis is scary and she has no compassion. At one point she explained anatomy to me like I have an IQ of 50. There's other competent physicians to choose from.

My Fiance was diagnosed, Stage 3A, and was told surgery was needed. Surgery not only took a whole morning, but cost us 27 units of blood thanks to her bonehead mistakes in surgery....no apology, no praise or positives at all. Fiance was bedridden for 3-5 months and died an awful death in a nursing home.

I did not like her at all. She did my surgery ten years ago. I found her to be rude and insensitive to me. She would say caustic things to me and when I would react with emotion she tried to say I was "depressed" and wrote out a prescription for Prozac. Maybe she had a lot in her life at the time and she isn't that way anymore, but I distanced myself from her and found another cancer doctor. I wish her well and hope she has found her area of happiness in the medical field. I learned from other doctors and staff she had a reputation of intimidating a lot of people.

I think this woman is tops in her field but she went into research shortly after my last chemo. I would love to have her recommend someone new to me now but I can't find her anywhere. She is number one when it comes to finding and treating cancer. I understand that research is needed but I sure wish she'd go back to seeing patients. Fantastic doctor!

I have went to Dr Look for 18 yrs, She saved my life twice. I had 2 types of cancer and she did both surgeries and I have been cancer free since 1992. She might not have a good bedside manner but at least she is an excellent Dr.

I was referred to Dr. Look for cervical cancer 10 years ago, after an unsuccessful surgery in Evansville. She gave my diagnosis her full attention (even let me look at my cancer under a microscope) and did a more extensive surgerey that saved my life. I was told by my local Dr. that I had few options, but she skillfully removed ALL cancer and I have been completely cancer free for 10 years, solely because she is a competent, skilled surgeon.

I wouldn't send my dog to her. She said she was the best, but I can't figure out "best" at what. Poor surgery skills or her rudness or her lack of any tact at all.
