Inexperienced With Crohn’s disease. A year of my sons life of not being correctly treated for severe Crohn’s disease has permanently effected his health. We have high deductible insurance. NO ONE at Nemours told us our bill could be this high! Our kid had Mono. We started at the pediatrician (who thought it was kidney stones) and sent us to the ER who diagnosed her with Mono and sent us to Nemours. So what did we get for $777/$477? A consultation that included asking questions, pushing on my child's abdomen, an order for blood work and an order for ultrasounds (I asked "What will you do if the ultrasound is abnormal?" the response was "Nothing").Ultrasounds aren't cheap, but Baptist DID give me an estimate of our cost. The bill for Nemours consultation sent to our insurance company was $777 who gave us a "discount" and our bill was $485. I've never paid this much for a doctor outside of an ER. I called the office to ask about this charge and it was submitted for review. NO ONE called me back - I had to call them and be told "It was coded correctly" and "This is the charge for a specialist". We were incorrectly charged $7.14 for an… insurance adjustment twice that I had to call and get removed. NO ONE called me with results for my child's ultrasound and blood work. I had to call and wait for a nurse to call me back.The nurse told me to get follow up ultrasounds in 6 months (that they'll no nothing with) Did they give me the order for that? NOPE.
