Dr. Kathleen Lawlor Brooks, MD

I met with Dr. Brooks through the Doctor on Demand app. Because of what's going on now with Coronavirus, there was initially a 195 minute wait to meet with a physician, so eventually I gave up waiting and clicked the button to schedule an appointment for the next day. Apparently that didn't carry over any of the information about my symptoms because our call started with her angrily telling me that I didn't give any information about why I was calling. I told her I had been exposed to someone who texted positive for Coronavirus and because my job involves going into people's homes, my manager had requested that I find out whether I need to be tested. She very forcefully told me that she can't order a test unless I am showing symptoms so in order to get tested I needed to go to urgent care or call my primary care physician. I told her I don't have a PCP and she just repeated what she said again. I asked if that meant I should just be walking around potentially spreading the virus… to other people and she told me that my questions were making her angry. I'm not a doctor but I have worked in varying levels of customer service for many years and I know for a fact that that's not how to treat patients. I ended the call because we weren't getting anywhere and I still don't have any information as to whether I should self-quarantine to stop the spread of Coronavirus. She left a really bad impression on me as someone who refuses to listen and gets angry when you. Honestly she doesn't seem suited for a career in medicine and should probably try for a job serving at Ed Debevic's.

I had Dr Brooks for almost 20 years and i couldn't have asked for a better more compassionate doctor! I loved Dr Brooks!!!

I couldn’t find Dr. Brooks’ e-mail to send her a thank you, so I’ll publicly say it here: I saw Dr. Brooks through the Doctors on Demand app, and I can’t believe how helpful she was. In 10 minutes she helped me figure out possible causes of my ailment, prescribed me what I needed, gave me directions for the future, and wished me well. But what really set her apart was the several pages of follow-up e-mail derailing some research she’d done since she’d been brainstorming more about my issue. She included a personal message with her thoughts, ideas about things to avoid, diagnosis, and several scientific articles with their references. I cannot believe she went so far to help me after already being so helpful in just 10 minutes on an app!

DO NOT ever go to Dr. Kathleen Brooks!! I saw her through the Dr. on Demand app and she was HORRIBLE!! I had used the app earlier in the day, seeing a different doctor about my 7 year old son’s eye, but at that time the doctor could not see any discharge in my son’s eye. From the very first question she asked. “Umm didn’t you just use this service an hour ago for the same thing??” I told her yes and tried to explain why I was calling back and she cut me off and told me “she doesn’t give second opinions” and then read off exactly what he told me and how it is just allergies and added that “sometimes when kids are really stuffed up and they don’t blow their nose enough, the mucus comes out of their eye”. I am not a doctor, but I have never in my life heard of that. I am, however, a mother who has seen her son struggle with allergies his entire life and know the difference between him sick, or him just being allergic to a dog, cat, grass, or something else in the air. She very rudely told… me that she isn’t going to give a 2nd opinion and that she “isn’t going to go against her collogue”. Baffled, I told her I have never heard of anyone not giving a 2nd opinion and that my son is in a ton of pain and I’m just trying to get him help. To which she angrily told me “I don’t know why you are being so rude, that is just the policy I follow!” I told her I’m not being rude, I’m trying to help my son, and people go to get a 2nd opinion every single day for absolutely everything, and I’m just trying to show you that he DOES have discharge and it is not just allergies. He needs medicine so he can get better.” She then SCREAMS at me! “GO GET YOUR SON BACK IN HERE THEN AND I WILL LOOK AT HIM!!” She was so angry that she was shaking as she was yelling at me. I was blown away and calmly asked her WHY was she getting so mad and upset? That I am just a concerned mother who is worried about her son, and she is a doctor who is supposed to be helping people feel better. And that she was so angry that she was actually shaking while yelling at me! Instead of talking to me, she HUNG UP on me! Instead of doing her job as a doctor and helping patients, she hung up on me and left my son in pain! My son DOES actually have PINK EYE! He DOES need actual EYE DROPS to treat the pink eye! And because he was seen by an actual doctor who CARES about their patients, his eye is already getting better! Instead of just looking at his eye, and realizing that you can now see the discharge that the first doctor wasn’t able to see, Dr. Kathleen Brooks REFUSED to help a CHILD, didn’t CARE that he was in PAIN, SCREAMED at a worried mother, and HUNG UP on someone who was trying to help their baby! It might be your normal policy to “not give a 2nd opinion” but she did not have to be so disgustingly rude about it. If she actually cared as a doctor, she could have easily told me “we don’t normally give 2nd opinions, but let me take a look to see if I see anything different”. I HOPE and pray that Dr. on Demand will go and watch the call I had with her! She should NOT be a doctor! She should be fired and NOT working for Dr. on Demand!! And she definitely should NOT be allowed to care for children!!! Anyone who is even THINKING about having her as a doctor should know that she doesn’t even have the humane ability to care about a child’s well-being!! DO NOT have her be your doctor!

I have stayed with Dr. Brooks for 20+ years. She cares about her patients. She never makes me feel rushed. The office atmosphere is very relaxed, almost like being at home.

This office is overall great, I send my whole family to her and referred friends as well. She is very caring and concerened about my health and well being. I would refer any one to Dr. Brooks if they asked me.

Bedside manner is excellent. Hard to find that anywhere else these days.
