Dr. Kathleen G Lapp, MD

I saw Dr. Lapp for five years for medication management while I concurrently saw a psychologist. Dr. Lapp Rxd stimulants for my ADHD but failed to address my resulting sleep problems. I asked her repeatedly if I needed to abstain from caffeine (not wanting to go through the withdrawal if it wouldn't help). She repeatedly asked me how much I consumed (2 cups/day)--apparently not remembering that I had told her before--and dismissed my concerns. Meanwhile she developed some complicated psycho-dynamic theory about why I was getting more depressed, theories that she never bothered to share with the psychologist, whose judgement on such matters I would actually have trusted. Dr. Lapp's job was to monitor the meds, but she obviously failed to do that adequately. (Talking to Dr. Lapp about anything emotionally complex is hopeless. It's like walking through the Hallmark aisle. She has this bargain-basement feminism and "we are all sisters here" attitude that hijacks her explicitly-assigned… job of medication management.) After five years of her chimerical theories, someone else suggested I had a caffeine intolerance--the very cause I had been asking her about all along but that she had cursorily dismissed. Bingo. That was it. I had lost five years of my life to utter exhaustion, unable to work adequately and missing much of my daughter's adolescence, due to Dr. Lapp's sloppiness.

To begin, we liked the small office setting - we rarely saw other patients in the waiting area. Her meeting room was comfortable with two new, stylish chairs, besides her own.Dr. Lapp has a thoughtful way of listening to the situation, then giving feedback such that we felt understood. She takes the time to explain concepts, in simple terms, giving us a new way to think of our situation. Her calm and empathetic nature truly inspires hope. We never felt rushed, and ended each session after having found some resolution. We highly recommend Dr. Lapp!
