Dr. Kathleen Elizabeth Metcalf, MD

I dont know where all the bad reviews are comming from. Dr. Metcalf is the worst doctor. Being an ICU nurse that is about to deliver baby at Kaiser, all the doctor are following "protocols" and was waiting for me to deliver normally. Once she entered her shift, she saw was the only one who have seen the urgency of delivering my baby csection. I was 9cm dilated and her decision to do emegent csection on me was the decision that saved my sons life, he was having unnoticed cord compression that time.She didnt hesitate to cut me open. It takes excellent skillset to distinguish that and compassion to go beyond despite protocol. People who are commenting negative does not really know what it takes to be on medical side of things and only cares about customer service...

I agree with many of the reviews. She is the worst person to have in your delivery room in my opinion. I went in to be induced and my baby came much sooner than anticipated. She seemed so bothered that I didn’t “wait” for her to get to the room and once I had the baby she was stitching me up and was shaming me for being in pain each time she put the needle through. Even after one of the nurses told her I was completely unmedicated she simply said oh and continued to tell me she wasn’t even touching me when I could clearly feel the needle. She also got upset that I asked my mom to take my baby because I was in so much pain I felt like I was going to squish my baby. She kept saying it wasn’t so bad and I needed to relax because it was “just her fingers”. I had never met her before this and absolutely hated her. I feel bad for any mother that has to deliver with her rudeness and entitlement in the room. She made me feel horrendous and like and inconvenience to her night. I am fortunate to… have a supportive family who helped me get back to focusing on my priorities.

I'm shocked to read under her bio that Dr Metcalf has sisters, because the way she treated me was a betrayal so deep that only a woman can do it to another woman. When I was in premature labor, screaming in pain, she discounted it as anxiety, a low pain tolerance, and even shamed me for not being a good mom bc I was pleading for relief. I will never forget her hardened face and the coldness in her voice as she Restrained me like I was in an insane asylum, in my darkest moments, saying "this isn't about you." I'd had a placental abruption, not simply anxiety or a low pain threshold or a case of the "bad mom's." Beware.

Worst bedside manners ever. I can't believe other people rated her so highly. I've avoided going back just so I wouldn't have to see her. My regular doctor at Kaiser in Valencia is great, but not doctor Metcalf. Thank goodness I'm not pregnant anymore.

Dr. Metcalf is one of those doctors who jumps to the worst possible conclusion right out the gate without getting to know the patient, their medical history or taking into account that the patient may be pretty in tune with their own body and may have some valuable input. Within 5 minutes of my first visit, and clearly no review of my medical records, she told me I might have cancer. Of course I did not but I had to endure painful tests and some fear. I'm sure she is very competent if there is an actual problem requiring surgery or other significant doctor expertise, but I would not recommend her for helping one manage their general health or aging issues, especially if you wish to have any say in your own course of action.

I have had the pleasure of being her patient for several years now. I am older and starting the menopause years and had some bleeding issues. Dr. Metcalf has ALWAYS answered any and all questions, taking plenty of time to discuss options, and then only recommending surgery when it was absolutely the last resort. She is always quick to answer back calls and follow-ups.Very thorough Doctor. If only all Kaiser doctors where this good!!

Dr. Metcalf is extemely competent, thorough and caring. I have had the opportunity to be her patient for more complicated medical issues and have received excellent care and follow-up.

Dr. Metcalf was so great in diagnosing my high risk pregnancy and getting me off work asap. She was very worried for me and my baby and after months of dealing with gestational hypertension, she finally decided it was time to get my baby out! He was born a couple weeks early, but we know it was the best for everyone. He is 1 1/2 now and absolutely wonderful. I LOVE Dr. Metcalf!

She does not like women who are overweight, makes rude comments about your weight, and is overall a horrible doctor. All i needed was a prescription, and she sent me to a specialist for it when she is certified to write it.
