Dr. Kathleen Denning Sanders, MD

When I was seven years old I was diagnosed with UC and she gave me a medications NOT APPROVED by the FDA and it made my legs swell up with blood so much to the point I couldn't walk for a year. And then when my parents tried to take me off of it, she wanted me to stay on it even though I COULD NOT WALK!! That was 13 years ago and I will never forget what she let happen to me.

I was 12 when I was diagnosed with crohns and no one could pinpoint what was going on with me UNTIL I met Dr. Sanders. She impacted me so much I decided to do a quick search online and see if she was still practicing and I saw some nasty reviews I’m assuming are fake so I decided to leave one of my own. I was scared and sick... I was a bit of a hypochondriac.. she was always so sweet, patient, mike mannered, and attentive. She listens and chooses very safe treatments for kids. She aims for the mildest forms of treatment she can and least invasive testing she can. I remember being very anxious before a procedure and her holding my arm gently like a mother. I also have a foreign mom who was with me at every appointment and her English wasn’t the best and she always respected her as well. In my experience she was a very nice women.

I took my son to see Dr. Sanders as a toddler about 16 years ago. My son was having horrible intestinal problems. He had been diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder by the neurologist in the same clinic. Oh but Dr. Sanders, with all her vast experience in autistic spectrum disorders...NOT, decided he was absolutely normal. Why? Because he smiled while in her examination room. Guess what Dr. Sanders, kids with autistic spectrum disorders do smile. Dr. Sanders colluded with other doctors in the office spreading the word that I had Munchhausen's and was making everything up to get attention. She said, "You may just have to accept the fact that there is nothing wrong with your son". I will never forget being treated like I was crazy at a time when I had just been told my son had autism, which was stressful enough. She was absolutely useless in diagnosing and treating my son for his gastrointestinal issues, but was extremely rude to our family. My son is now almost 18, and… still struggles with issues relating to his autism diagnosis (which has been confirmed multiple times, despite the fact that he does in fact, smile like many kids with autism). He continues to struggle with gastrointestinal issues though we did find a doctor who was willing to help, and his condition has improved. This doctor traumatized our family so much that even now, 17 years later, I'm still upset and felt compelled to write this review.

Her office was clean. She was willing to spend the amount of time necessary to answer our questions. On our first visit we only waited 15 minutes in the waiting room (though 20 minutes in the office while she finished her report on the computer). That's where the good ends. The rest falls under worst experience with a medical person. The appointment staff was nice enough on the phone but she and her nurse are very rude. Zero bedside manner. She got mad at us because our baby having waited over an hour for her, tired, hungry and restless began to fuss. She was upset she spit up (she has REFLUX, why we are there). Getting a hold of the nurse is impossible. Dr Sanders did not know anything about time release vs instant release medicines, nor any other suggestion besides upping the dose on her brand of medicines. No knowledge of long term ill effects of her prescriptions. Rude and useless, period.

She treated my daughter who is very mature as if she was a 3 year old. She was extremely harsh. I had to tell Dr. Sanders to stop, that her point was made. My daughter dreads going to this office now because of that experience and she has to because of her continued condition. I will say that Dr. Sanders appears to be knowledgeable and did follow up after the procedure but that bedside manner could be much improved.

After a year, my son is still plagued by what this doctor put him through. Dr. Sanders was a fill-in doctor for my son's regular GI at a procedure in the hospital. All the result's of that procedure were "unreliable" and need to be repeated. She did not listen to us (the parents) prior to the procedure and was very uncaring in the aftermath. We were treated very poorly as if even talking with us was an inconvenience. I do not recommend this doctor and feel sorry for any child placed in her path to practice on!

Terrible doctor! She got mad at me because my 18 month old threw up in her office, I guess she doesn't know that kids with reflux do stuff like that. If she is your child's doctor, for your childs sake, please get another doctor.

I totally disagree with the other reviewers. I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Sanders, and even prefer her to my regular pediatrician. She has a very low-key manner, but is extremely caring and a good listener. She always spends plenty of time with us and relates really well to both of my sons (only one of whom is her patient). She has also really helped improved my son's condition with her advice and Rx. I would highly recommend Dr. Sanders.

I totaly agree with the other review she lacks on good manners dosent believe my daughters pain.
