Dr Whisman - reviews My family (myself, children and grandchildren) became patients of Dr. Kathleen Whisman over 15 years ago, after the death of my late mother-in-law. The compassion and caring she showed the family after my mother-in-law’s death was a major factor in our decision to switch to her practice. Since that time my family has moved to states, so I am now the only one who continues to see her... but my kids still wish she were their doctor. During this time Dr. Whisman has become like family... don’t get me wrong, she’s never crossed the doctor/patient boundary... but we trust and care about her like she is one of our own. Example: when my grandson was admitted to Oakland Children’s Hospital with misdiagnosed bacterial meningitis (through no fault of Dr. Whisman), she came from Sebastopol to Oakland to attend the hospital’s family meetings, just to make sure we understood everything we were being told and to make sure our requests and concerns were… addressed. When my grandson died four later years she drove my daughter to me at the hospital (he was with me when he died) so she wouldn’t have to drive herself. Dr. Whisman spends as much time as necessary with each patient and doesn’t lock us into a set appointment time frame, so we never feel rushed... this is not just my opinion, but has been shared with me by many of her other patients in the waiting room. I now travel between three states spending part of the year with different family members, but maintain Sonoma County, CA as my home base... one of the main reasons is because of the wonderful healthcare provided by Dr. Whisman.

Dr. Whisman is an amazing, caring and professional Family Practitioner. She takes as much time as I need and I never feel rushed. She's even scheduled some of my appts right before the office closes for lunch just in case we need extra time. She listens to my concerns and really collaborates with me on my care. Honestly, the best doctor I've ever had - and I'm not a youngster so I've have many years to compare.

She is kind and listens well to her patients. She never acts holier than thou.
