Dr. Kathryn Lee Galbraith, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Kathryn Galbraith for quite some time, and while my experience with her was fine at first, I ultimately left the practice because the quality of care and the way I was treated had become unacceptable. Initially, Kathryn seemed compassionate and willing to listen. Over time, however, her demeanor changed significantly. I increasingly felt that my concerns were met with smugness, condescension, and the attitude that I couldn't possibly understand my own health. There were also times when discussing medications that her personal experience seemed to influence her recommendations in a way that made me uncomfortable. For example, when she wanted to switch me to Prpzac, the fact that she herself took it was presented as part of the reasoning for why it would be a good choice for me. A physician's personal experience with a medication is not what I want my own treatment decisions based on. Far more concerning was what happened when I brought her symptoms of what… turned out to be a very serious medical condition. My concerns were essentially dismissed, and I was made to feel as though I didn't know what I was talking about. I had to push for a specialist referral. I got the referral and was ultimately diagnosed with a severe medical condition. Despite initially dismissing my concerns, Kathryn never followed up with me about the specialist or the diagnosis. More than a YEAR later, I happened to bring it up myself, and her response was essentially, "Oh yeah, how did that appointment go?" I found that absolutely astounding. Something serious enough to require specialty care had apparently fallen completely off the radar. Communication with the office was another constant source of stress. Staff could be rude, the phone frequently went unanswered, and getting a callback about a medical question or even a medication refill could take far too long. I was regularly anxious about whether I would receive medications I had been taking long-term on time. Patients should not have to repeatedly chase their doctor's office for basic continuity of care. What really put my experience into perspective was finding a new primary care doctor. While reviewing the records Galbraith Family Medicine sent over, my new doctor showed me multiple very high blood-pressure readings that had been documented at my previous appointments. I had never even been told about them, much less had them meaningfully addressed or followed up on. My new doctor was shocked by the apparent lack of follow-up. So was I. I honestly did not realize how inadequate my experience at Galbraith Family Medicine had become until I experienced what a responsive, modern medical practice can actually be like. The practice leans heavily into an "old-fashioned country doctor" identity, right down to its website talking about caring for generations of families and knowing people in the community such as "the grocer or banker." The problem is that the old-fashioned feeling doesn't stop with the decor or branding. In my experience, the office also felt seriously behind the times in its communication, technology, procedures, and approach to patient care. Nostalgia may be charming as an aesthetic. It is considerably less charming when you're waiting for a medication refill or wondering why an abnormal vital sign wasn't addressed. I stayed much longer than I should have because this was my normal and I didn't realize how much better primary care could be. After repeated dismissiveness, poor communication, lack of follow-up, and feeling increasingly disrespected by Kathryn, I finally had enough and left. Finding a new doctor has only reinforced that decision. I would not return to Galbraith Family Medicine, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

Dr. Kathryn Galbraith was wonderful but her office staff are under qualified. Coming from the ER recently and needing a prompt follow up with Dr. Galbraith is not going to happen. It will be two weeks, and the nurse can not get important information right. This is crucial. This is unsatisfactory and unacceptable. They lack the skills needed to keep a patient healthy. I feel neglected by this office. What happened to Patient Care? It's really a shame because I did like the doctor very much. But I will never go there again. I have switched to another doctor.

I truly liked Dr. Galbraith, but her staff leaves a lot to be desired. I have a lot of medical diagnoses, so when I call to talk with the nurse, the front receptionist doesn't think I need to talk to the nurse, so I never receive a call back. So, when I have an appointment, we spend more time talking about things she should already know rather than the issue at hand. I have pulled my whole family out of her practice, and feel much better now.

great practice coming from Dr Sundarhams office it was like a breath of fresh air. Staff was very nice and understanding the nurse had great follow thru and got my prescriptions right the first time with no re call they used the correct pharmacy and they called me directly after talking to the doctor very nice practice
