Kathryn Morton, MD, is a professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is also chief of Nuclear Medicine and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and a member of the Imaging, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics Program at Huntsman Cancer Institute.Mortons research interests include PET-based tumor imaging and tumor-specific PET probes. She has research and clinical experience with a specific type of PET scanner designed for detecting breast cancer. This scanner performs positron emission mammography (PEM) and will potentially be able to detect small cancers in the breast, which are currently difficult to identify with full-size PET scanners.Morton received her medical degree from the University of Utah, followed by an internship in Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and residencies in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Utah. She holds membership in many professional societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, the Society of Nuclear Medicine, and Association of University Radiologists, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
