I called Dr. Hartman to schedule a routine wellness check. During my visit, as I always have done with my primary care and OBGYN physicians for the last decade, I asked several medical questions that I save up throughout the year. She was very helpful with my questions, and seemed very attentive. It was what proceeded that ruined the whole experience. You sign a document during your visit that allows any fees over what is covered by insurance to be charged to your card at random. My visit being 100% preventative, I never suspected a charge to appear on my account. To my dismay, I was sorely wrong. A fee for approximately $220 appears on my checking account which I had no idea its origin, especially with it being labeled "Wyoming Debit" coming out of LA. I hadn't seen a paper bill yet, so I told my bank this was a fraudulent charge. To my surprise about a week later, I get this bill from the doctor saying I owed the same $ amount. Great, so now I have this bill I had no idea was coming… my way, but additionally was given no warning before having it swiped from my account and causing MAJOR overdraft fees. I reached out to the Dr. and very respectfully expressed my disappointment and disbelief with what had transpired. I requested that it be corrected. She informs me that her chart reflects our visit to not be preventative and if I have further questions to speak to her billing team. I speak to her billing team and explain everything that has happened. They will not correct it because the Dr. tells them how to bill it. No follow up from Dr. from my further statements to her, and the billing team won't budge until she does. So, not only was I stuck paying for this bill that was completely unwarranted, but now I also have bank issues. This doctor visit was completely misleading and mishandled. I gave every opportunity to correct this issue, and have been trying to get solutions for a month now to no avail. There is no excuse for this at all. I've seen doctors in leading medical capitals of the nation and have never experienced something like this. I'm literally still aghast.
