Dr. Kavara Susan Vaughn, MD

Dr. Vaughn's diagnosis and referral saved my life. She identified a rare illness that causes behavioral and cognitive problems and found a neurologist who specializes in my disease. I had seen 3 other providers who dismissed my symptoms. Dr. Vaughn's expertise and persistence in finding me help saved my life. She followed up post surgery and assisted me with depression symptoms post my brain injury. My family is very grateful to her.

Dr. Vaughn has been a life saver, literally, for me and my family. Her approach to treating the whole system and finding how and why things are amiss, helped me on the road to recovery I never believed waa possible. I had lost all hope. She never did loose hope, and inspired me to keep going until we found the right combination of therapy and medication to treat my many comorbidities. In addition, she found me the appropriate neurological care and advocated for me to be treated as a person with a physiological illness and not just as a "mental patient", as I had been dismissed by other providers because of my depression. I can't imagine I would still be alive without her care, treatment, and advocacy on my behalf.

Dr. Vaughn is simply the best.

Dr. Vaughn is first and foremost, a genuine and beautiful human being. It's a super-plus that she is empathic, experienced, and adept at applying these skills to assist her patients in all that life puts in our paths. I count myself lucky and grateful to have found such excellent and consistent, psychiatric care.

I have been treated at WVU hospitals for the last 7 years. I developed PTSD after a serious fall in 04 resulting in trauma surgery. Then I had twoo heart episodes and series of family issues that were beyond belief. There is no way I would have survived the last two years without the wise, caring and intellect of Dr. Vaughn. She is very approachable and has great introspection and insight into issues, pharmacology and epathy for mental/physical struggle. I would highly recommend her and was quite taken aback by the negative post on here. She is one in a million and I am indebted to her for her care during some very difficult times in my life.She is a great listener.

I have had occasional episodes of severe depression over the past 16 years. Dr. Vaughn has been my MD for the past 2 years. These past 2 years have been perhaps the best I have had in 16 years.Dr. Vaughn is thorough and very approachable. When needed she has taken extra time with me.I thank God there are caring professionals like Dr. Vaughn.
