Dr. Kavita R Bhatnagar, MD

I am deeply concerned by the clinical judgment and lack of collaborative care demonstrated by Dr. Bhatnagar. As a parent navigating an incredibly vulnerable mental health crisis with my teenager, I expected a trauma-informed, comprehensive approach. Instead, we experienced a rigid, dismissive attitude that actively compromised our child’s safety and stability. Dr. Bhatnagar repeatedly dismissed critical input from our child’s established therapists, stating they are not medical doctors, and completely ignored the professional mental health recommendations provided by the State Ombudsman. This refusal to participate in a multidisciplinary team approach leaves families isolated and unheard. Furthermore, she acted unprofessionally by actively undermining the parental relationship during direct communication with the patient. Her pharmacological management is equally alarming. She refused to consider non-acute, supportive medications that could aid in long-term behavioral stability, yet… readily prescribed high-risk medications that carry explicit black-box warnings for increased suicidal ideation in adolescents. Additionally, she prescribed medications that raise blood pressure and elevate dopamine levels—a highly counterproductive approach for a patient whose clinical presentation requires dopamine agonists. When a provider prioritizes institutional compliance or personal ego over patient safety, parental input, and state oversight, the system fails. I cannot recommend Dr. Bhatnagar to any family looking for safe, collaborative, or effective psychiatric care for their child.
