Dr. Keith A. Ayrons, MD

My mom, patient for a few years, now in hospice. Recently was hospitalized for a collapsed lung from metastatic cholangiocarcinoma. We saw him once during her hospitalization (3 weeks), after being notified several times that he would come in. He talked to me (son), stated that she needed a Heimlich Valve and that she would be able to continue her cancer treatment. He stated that doctors at the hospital looked at things negatively and that they weren't oncologists. Reassuring me, that she looked well and strong, if up to it, she would continue chemo. On his notes, he wrote the complete opposite, he stated that we(family) were adamant about continuing chemo, he is the one that came up with the plan, not us, that he had discussed how extensive her disease was(never did), that she wouldn't tolerate chemo(never said), and went as far as noting that my sister and I were in denial about the seriousness of mom's disease. Mom's situation worsened in March, I asked why he didn't continue… treatment then, as her primary oncologist, he BELIEVED she was receiving treatment from Stanford(never did). He knew that my mom had an online second opinion, to support him as the primary oncologist, how he was under the assumption that she was receiving treatment at Stanford, I have no idea. Sometimes you believe that you leave your loved ones in good hands, especially when it comes to a professional. Sadly, in our situation, that wasn't the case.

Visited Dr Aryons. Not prepared for visit. Hadn’t checked patients portal. Just spoke of his impending vacations. Terrible Do NOT recommend

I have been a patient of Dr Ayrons for a while and since he move, I am still searching for a new oncologist. I read the comments on this website and these patients who complain about being scolded or has a big ego, I assumed you've never met a doctor who tells you the truth and not sugar coast for the sake of it. Wherever he loved they are lucky to have someone who is passionate about cancer and truly understand the needs of a patient.

He got mad when he found out that I wanted a 2nd opinion. He cancelled my bone marrow biopsy appointment when I was in the driveway about to come in. He said that he was on call, and he had to be at the hospital. I let him know that it wasn't right what he was doing. I get a phone call a few minutes later, and I was told that ALL of my files were sent to the other doctor and that I would get good treatment there. Basically, he took his ball and went home!

Need to know exspectations of life and sure to write meds out the way he percribes and need to push for mor scanning with cancer in lympnodes at least 2 ct scan a year of the body but doesnt happen

I brought my mother for her appointment at Dr. Ayrons office for the first time. In years that I have gone with my parents to doctor's offices, this is the first time that a Doctor actually spent at lesat 45 minutes to an hour answering questions and explaining the diagnosis. Dr. Ayrons gave us peace of mind. You can tell that Dr. Ayrons knows what his doing and the way he took time answering our questions. I have read so many things on the internet about my mothers cancer condition and I brought a list of medical terms that I wanted him to clarify and explain. Before seeing him my whole family felt scared, anxious, and hopeless but that all change after talking to Dr. Ayrons. I feel confident that my mother is being seen by a doctor that is well trained and well informed.

He is not your typically MD that sees you for 5-10 minutes. He makes sure you understand everything. His assistant is also good and very efficient.
