Dr. Keith Wellington Myrick, MD

I broke my ankle falling down a set of stairs. I was referred to Dr. Myrick via Norton Audubon. After the E.R. visit I was sent home to make a follow up appointment with Dr. Myrick for further care. I was given crutches and orders to stay off my foot. When I arrive for my appt, my mom went on up to see if she could get a wheelchair for me. The staff in the office made it seem to her that she was asking for a miracle. Eventually (15+ min later) someone came with a wheelchair. We were not greeted when we arrived. I was not asked for a co-pay or any payment of any kind. After getting called back, the assistant and Dr. Myrick were pleasant and informed me that I would definitely require surgery. I was placed in a walking boot (that did not fit me correctly) and wheeled back to the waiting room. I was then informed that I needed to pay $35 for my co-pay, $30 for FMLA paperwork, $189(?) For my walking boot and $800+ for my deductible.i am not well off financially and was not given a real… reason why I was not told of these costs before my appt.. I then let the receptionist know they would need to take the boot back as I did not have over $1,000.00 to give them for that. The receptionist "Deb" was very irritated and rude and eventually said they would hold my services til the surgery so that I would meet my deductible. The receptionist had no tactful way of addressing the situation and made multiple over exaggerated sighs. After this I was not offered help out to the car (my mom is disabled and uses a cane) so after struggling to get out one staff member politely offered after seeing how upset me and my mother were at this point.. My surgery itself went well. My incision and stitches were phenomenal. He told my mom he would personally call my mother with the surgery info and how it went. That never happened. I struggled with low oxygen in recovery but she was not told this. Pain meds were called in but needed a prior Authorization from him but despite my efforts was unable to get one therefore had ZERO pain meds and was then forced to go back to the Dr JUST to get pain meds!!!!!!! I ended paying out of pocket for them because I couldn't get the er Dr to call in a prior Authorization either. Almost a month and I still have not heard or seen him directly. When I called for a2nd refill he offered a topical gel. I declined as I have it for my arthritis and it gives me no relief. AVOID THIS OFFICE!!!!!!!
