More important than saving your time and money, save you mental, emotional, and physical health! We were specifically referred to Dr. Yount to work with my wife’s severe anxiety and fear of dental practitioners. During every appointment, we reminded Dr. Yount that my wife has severe anxiety. Understanding my wife’s severe anxiety Dr. Yount even stated that he could refer us to a good psychologist that he has had to go to, numerous times, for his series of “anger problems” in the past. Honestly, that should have been our first “red flag”, but we were so desperate to find help for my wife’s orofacial issue that we ignored the “red flag”. That being said, Dr. Yount reassured us that he had worked with people with severe anxiety in the past and he would keep it at the forefront of his mind. During our last appointment, my wife got scared and began to hyperventilate. Instead of Dr. Yount helping her, he physically assaulted my wife, by jerking her head around, and repeatedly yelled at us… saying, “We’re done here! Get out!”. He also slammed down the $1,800 orthotic device, that he was fitting to my wife’s mouth, so hard that the Office Manager (who is also his wife) and Nurse came running down the hall to see what happened. Here are some other key points about Dr. Yount’s practice: 1. Dr. Yount schedules 2-hour appointments which is just a long lecture with no medical examination or practice being done. He just talks to you about your issue and the approach he wants to take. Which, shockingly, he doesn’t do it alone – he tells you that you have to go to a biofeedback specialist, physical therapy, and other practices to achieve his program. 2. Dr. Yount gives you 30+ pages (double-sided) of information to read (at home) after every appointment. Yes, he wants you to read collegiate-level information packets at home, in-between working, raising your kids, and all the other things you have going on in your life. These packets of information have medical terminology, images, and graphs that you need to have a medical degree to understand. Then, on the next appointment, Dr. Yount questions you on the previous packets of information. We once told Dr. Yount that we don’t have the time or medical comprehension to read and understand the packets of information, and he replied, “Who does? If you did and understood them, I would hire you as a partner”! 3. The only piece of medical equipment we ever saw in Dr. Yount’s office was a Dremel-type tool. Other than that, Dr. Yount never used any medical equipment, dental equipment, x-ray machines, etc.
