Dr. Kelechi R. Okoroha is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine, specializing in hip arthroscopy, shoulder stabilization, and advanced sports medicine procedures of the hip, shoulder, and knee. He is known for using minimally invasive, cutting-edge surgical and non-surgical techniques to help patients—from elite professionals to weekend athletes—return safely to the activities they love.

With extensive experience treating NBA, NFL, and MLB players, Dr. Okoroha combines technical expertise with a deep understanding of the unique physical demands of athletic performance. His research has focused on optimizing pain management and reducing opioid use after surgery, as well as improving outcomes for both elite and recreational athletes.

Dr. Okoroha’s areas of specialized expertise include:

• Hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral repair, and reconstruction
• Shoulder stabilization, …including complex instability, rotator cuff repair and shoulder replacement surgery
• Knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and meniscus repair

Academic and Professional Leadership

Currently, Dr. Okoroha is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He continues to serve as an NBA Team Physician and is actively involved in advancing orthopedic education and research.

He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts, and has delivered more than 250 national and international presentations. Dr. Okoroha is also a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy, two of the most respected journals in his field.
