Dr. Kelli Jo Miller, MD

I loved all the staff I encountered at Women First except Dr Miller. She was not nice and made a rude comment about my age when I was pregnant. Poor bedside manner! I also was not comfortable with how she handled my delivery- son's heartbeat got low numerous times throughout the day and night. She told me she thought I wanted to go natural and didn't push for csection when I said no such thing! I would see a different doctor at the practice instead.

I love Dr. Miller. She is an excellent doctor and has a good bedside manner. I have been through three pregnancies with Women First and am currently on my fourth; my first was a miscarriage. Dr. Miller has been my primary Ob-Gyn each time, and she was the doctor who delivered both of my babies.With my miscarriage, she was very caring and answered all of my questions. She allowed me to come back for a final ultrasound, at my request, for my own peace of mind to confirm the miscarriage. I requested a D&C, and she performed the operation. I had no complications from it.During pregnancy-related office visits, she was always caring and answered my questions to the best of her ability, and researched the ones she couldn't answer. At my request, she had me come in for early ultrasounds (7 weeks) with each of my pregnancies since my miscarriage, to confirm that everything was going well.Both of my labors (so far) were induced at just past 39 weeks, and for both, I had epidurals, which I… received fairly early in each labor. I believe Dr. Miller was available, and I saw her a few times during labor, but for the most part, she was not present during labor - in each case, the attending L&D nurse was. In both cases, I felt that the care I received from the L&D nurses was excellent.Because I was induced, I received Pitocin with my labors, and I chose to have an epidural. Shortly into each labor, my membranes were artificially ruptured, again with my knowledge and consent. I will say here that I do not know how my experience might have been different if I had chosen a medicine- and intervention-free labor. (I plan to attempt that with my current pregnancy, and will write a review based on that experience afterwards.)The only concern I had (and have) with my labors came from my first one, when, after about 17 hours and after slow but steady progress to 9.5+ cm, Dr. Miller requested that an internal monitor be placed "to see what was taking so long." My understanding is that 17 hours is not remotely a "long time" for a first labor, particularly one that was induced, and I am a little concerned that it was a potential issue. My L&D nurse did something to help get me to the point where I was ready to push. I appreciated this and still do - she may have helped me avoid an unnecessary medical intervention.That same L&D nurse stayed half an hour past her shift being over so she could be there for my daughter's birth - and she continued working with me until my daughter was born. I wish I could remember her name, because I would request her for any future deliveries if I could.There was no episiotomy involved with either of my deliveries, although I did tear with both. It does not seem to be routine practice with Dr. Miller.Overall, I was very pleased with the care I received from Dr. Miller and at Baptist East. I would recommend both to anyone who wishes to have a delivery that includes medical pain relief.
