Dr. Kelly G Cowan, MD

December 11, 2023. Empathic. Insightful. Professional. Excellent rapport. My appointments are now 'maintenance' (about 3 months apart); I can say without reservation that my mental (and physical) health have blossomed because of her compassion and expertise. If you are seeking psychiatric care, put Dr. Cowan at the top of your list. Her staff are also very professional and accommodating.

Dr. Cowan has encouraged my increased independence and self-reliance as my symptoms have decreased and are better controlled. At the same time though, she remains available and accessible if I need short term greater support. It has been a long and challenging road to return to complete independence and I can say - without rreservation - that I would not be doing as well as i am without Dr. Cowan's understanding, patience, encouragement and support.

She is an exceptional psychiatrist/physician. Compassionate, professional, insightful, empathic and kind. And a very nice person.

Dr. Cowan has been my doctor for 12 years. I had two others before her and didn't get any relief or even an accurate diagnosis for my illness. even though she was a relatively new doctor when she took over my care. she was able to accurately diagnose my illness and started a drug and therapy treatment regimen that I credit with saving my life and my marriage. I am primarily a maintenance patient now, but my sessions still include psychotherapy as needed. Dr. Cowan is not in my insurance network, but I have chosen to remain her patient even though psychiatric care is expensive and I am not a wealthy person. I stay because the level of devotion and compassion she has for her patients is far above anything I'm sure they taught her in medical school. At times sessions run long, but all get equal treatment and I have never heard another patient complain about waiting a few extra minutes because we've all been that one that needed a little more from her at one time or another. She has a very… good nurse on staff and her receptionist is so very kind. Emergency calls are almost always handled by Dr. Cowan and calls for refills or information are taken care of the same day. She is a gifted psychiatrist and compassionate person.

Dr. Cowan is very helpful and smart. She listens and uses her medical knowledge to diagnosis. I saw 6 doctors, all different specialists, who could not figure out my problem. Dr. Cowan gave me an explanation of what I have, how to treat it with medications, and tests we did to back up the diagnosis. I am better than I've been in 10 years. I thank Dr. Cowan and her staff for excellent care and compassion.

Dr. Cowan is the best doctor I have ever had. Talking to her calms me and always makes me feel hopeful.

Exposing the darkness of your mind and soul requires that one trusts the doctor. Dr. Cowan is a doctor who quickly earns that trust. She is a kind and compassionate person, but as a no nonsense doctor; this is a perfect combination for a psychiatrist. For 12 years she has helped manage my meds and my life so that I'm a functional and productive member of society, despite my disorder. I will require medication and a psychiatrist for most of the rest of my life; Dr Cowan is the doctor I've chosen for that job. Don't trust your family doctor to manage your medications for mental disorders. Get a mental health professional. I highly recommend Dr. Cowan.
