Dr. Kelly Miller Harbert, DO

Dr. Kelly Harbert contacted me by phone to quarantine me for my symptoms of Covid. She requested that I take the Covid test at Mercy in Canton. I explained that this is a far drive as I am sick. She said there are no test sights in Louisville, Ohio. I called to schedule my test at Mercy directly after hanging up with the doctor. I held on the phone for 30 minutes. The response was “ the doctor did not call in her authorization try again tomorrow.” I called Doctor Herbert’s office immediately and the office was closed. I then looked up Covid testing near me and Rite Aide in Louisville, Ohio was available for an appointment in just one hour. I took the test and was told results in 2 to 5 days. The results took 8 days. During this time my symptoms worsened and I called the doctor after hours at home she never called back. The next morning I spook to the receptionist who informed me that Dr. Harbert is frustrated with me because I did not go to the Mercy testing. All emotions aside… can someone treat me? The reception called me back after asking the doctor and this was the message I received. 1) There is no further treatment for me. Just continue to finish the medication that is not working. 2) Dr. Harbert also wanted me to know that she returned my call from after home, but the number was disconnected. I have been at my home for 25 years and my phone has never been disconnected. I own a business and if you google my name my phone number appears…..(assuming the doctor doesn’t have a computer with patients total background and phone number.) In addition, if there was any concern why didn’t she follow up with me when she returned to her office? Neglect. Next, work requires a note stating the date of quarantine and the date of testing. I called and requested this information with a picture of my positive Covid home test (still waiting for Rite Aide’s results) The receptionist did not call me to inform me of the doctor’s response…..so again I called and asked the status. Here’s her response. 1) The Doctor will not write an excuse because the test was not done through Mercy. 2) She will not treat me any further until the Rite Aide test is available. Refuses to even call me. Now I am concerned because work requests a note to remain off work or I would need to return to work (expose others) just to keep my job. Continuing to try to receive treatment; I called Dr. Harbert to make an appointment. The receptionist was very rude ( Used my first name in a surly manner and in formed me that I need to be patient?) I responded by asking if she would leave a message for ( thinking to myself: “apparently the only scheduling person”) to call me back. I was told in a military form voice “NO YOU HAVE TO CALL ONCE AGAIN AND leave a message on a RECORDED line…they will call me when they can. So I did and they called to inform me the wait time 3 days to see the doctor. ( remember I have Covid test positive and can barely talk let alone continue call…call..call) I accepted the appointment. Some sense struck me and I decided to go to urgent care instead of waiting 3 days…stranded over the weekend. Dr. Harbert acted in an unethical manner which could result in the harm not only to me, but to the general public. Without a note of quarantine I would be forced to possible expose others or be terminated. To imagine that the doctor who requested my quarantine refuses to speak to me or my work is to me unbelievable. Today I am finally feeling much better on my road to recovery. 1) The stark county health department responded with test positive for Covid and the required 10 days quarantine, which I submitted to work and they approved. 2) The urgent care doctor…after hearing my non treatment stated, “NO DON’T WAIT!” At this point my temperature was 103 degrees, dizzy, nauseous, heart palpitations, coughing spells. He gave me a cough medication that worked immediately and an antibiotic that also worked by the second day. Apparently, there was another treatment.

Not a huge fan. Dr. Harbert didn't have great bedside manner and didn't seem to take my concerns seriously. I explained I had woken up a week or so prior in extreme pain (from what I suspect is a cervical herniated disc, but Dr. Harbert said she didn't want to try to diagnose me and was going to "punt me" to a specialist--her words. That's fine, I didn't mind going to a specialist, but I was bummed about having to wait longer for any sort of diagnosis and relief. I felt like I was at my pain threshold and wasn't sure how much longer I could hold up without going bonkers). The pain had not subsided in the days that had passed. I was in such pain that I couldn't do daily tasks and was struggling to get any sleep. I had been taking the max dosage of Ibuprofen and Tylenol for days and they just took the very edge off of the pain, but not enough to allow me to do even simple tasks for myself. My husband had to do almost everything for me, even help me get dressed in the morning. Sitting and… laying down were extremely painful, so I just kind of slowly walked around my house like a zombie in pj's, in pain, for days, trying to be gentle with my body. Dr. Harbert said she would be unable to help me and suggested I see a neurologist (at one point she even asked why I was there and why I didn't just go straight to a neurologist; when I explained that my insurance requires referrals to see a specialist, she didn't really respond). I asked if there was anything she could do or recommend for the pain in the meantime, and she said no (she didn't even recommend icing or anything simple I could do at home, which I thought was interesting; I had already been icing, but if I didn't already know to do that to relieve the inflammation, I surely would have wanted my PCP to mention it if I specifically asked what I could be doing at home to relieve the pain). I asked for a referral, and she said she would write me one. She then abruptly left the room without any sort of signal that the appointment was over, so I assumed she was getting some paperwork or something. Then after a few minutes a nurse came in and said, "Okay! Have a great day!". I asked again at the front desk about the referral, and the women up front had no idea about it, but they pulled out some paperwork for me to sign and assured me the referral would go out the next morning. So after a few days I called to try and set up an appointment with a neurologist, and they said they needed a referral before they could set up an appointment. So I called Dr. Harbert's office again, confused, because the referral was supposed to have been written up by then, and the receptionists said there wasn't one on file. 13 days after my initial visit, where I made it explicitly clear to Dr. Harbert that I was in tremendous, debilitating pain and very much desired help from someone (anyone, really), and she still hasn't written me a referral to see a neurologist. Everyone else who works there has been really kind and helpful, though, especially the receptionists. Overall it just felt like Dr. Harbert wasn't taking me seriously, for whatever reason. She was a bit snarky. It didn't seem to trouble her that I was (and still am, at the time of writing) in pain, and she didn't (and still doesn't) seem willing to do much of anything to help, even something as simple as signing a piece of paper so I can try to talk to a neurologist and maybe figure out some answers. Would not recommend. (Insert sad face, big thumbs down, and other generally disappointed emojis here.)

IF THINGS DON'T GO HER WAY SHE WILL DROP YOU AS A PATIENT. IS THAT HOW YOU SHOW CONCERN AND COMPASSION FOR A PATIENT THAT HAS MEDICAL ISSUES? IT'S THE ONLY OFFICE I HAVE EVER KNOWN TO ACTUALLY CLOSE AND LOCK THEIR DOORS FOR ONE HOUR AT LUNCH. MUST BE NICE

Qualified, professional, dedicated, caring, compassionate, I could go on. As a client of Dr. Harbert for many years, I have never been dissatisfied with her medical services. I chuckle at some of the negative comments I have read. Many things taken out of context or they were not going to be happy with any physician they saw. Stark County is lucky to have her.

Terrible... I looked for months for a DO in the area and finally found one.... I told her my history and told her I was excited to find her being a DO and she personally looked me in the face and said she isn't a practicing DO and there is no money in that.... She doesn't get paid as much if she bills for those procedures...... I told her then she might want to change the letters behind her name and that I'd think it would be a legal issue and then told me her husband was a lawyer .... so her bases are covered....so needless to say .. waist of time and money... I even asked the receptionist when setting up the appointment about her criteria and the differences... Sad... most doctors are in it for the money and not helping people....

A doctor who has both compassion and skill.

Dr.Harbert is very detailed and persistant in her questioning .She is very friendly and approchable .She is honest if you dont like the truth she isn't for you.

I have never had a Dr. as detailed as Dr.Harbert. She takes as much time as you need and works to get to the bottom of your problem.
