My partner is 40 weeks pregnant. Her primary doctor left their practice, Kelly Jo was assigned to provide care for my partner and chose to suddenly end her mental health medication that she had been taking for 5 years, without even seeing her first. Kelly made it evident that this is based on her apparent stigmas of said medication. My partner did all due diligence to ensure that her OBGYN and Midwife approved of the medication, to the point of getting a letter presented to Kelly by them saying so. Kelly arbitrarily and with futility has repetitively denied my partner her medication OR any alternative support, causing her severe distress and anxiety at 40 weeks pregnant! It is absolutely terrifying that there are "caregivers" in the world with this kind of with this level of disregard for patients well-being. She treated my partner with blatant disrespect and ill-content. It would have been absolutely understandable to have continued her medication while having her revisit the… diagnosis or seek alternative care while pursuing other treatments, but to strip someone of their mental health medication without warning, or alternatives, days before having a child is objectively cruel.
