She solely based her diagnosis on personal opinion and was subjective, not objective at all. That morning before leaving my husband, who is the Veteran unknowingly mixed up his medications, which I was unaware of until afterwards. But for a doctor to say that she did not believe this Veteran has no BRAIN INJURY without looking at the REPORTS which were offered to her, and then deny that they were, she should be fired! That is what she did to my husband I was there and had the reports, i.e., PET/CT, MRI, and explained to her that his pituitary gland was gone, and hypothalamus was abnormal on both sides. This was due to all the blasts, 6 EFP and concussions 5 in 4 months, yet she discounted this. Her evaluation was that he was not in the best interest of the Veteran, who is a Purple Heart Veteran and certainly deserves better than what she evaluated. She dismissed him without just cause solely basing it on her 10 minute assessment and listened to nothing of my 8 years of being my… husband's caregiver and has medically been through, and continues to deal with daily, i.e., dis-associative state disorder seizures, hypercoagability, TIA's, broken back, tinnitus, short and long term memory loss... Dr. Kearns does not deserve to be in the position she is in as she is abusing it which is really sad and is hurting Veterans from receiving the care they so desperately need, which they are not receiving at the VA. This is why we pay for private insurance, not to be dismissed by one doctor who thinks she gets to call the shots on a Veterans life! What she did was send a letter to the VA and when the appointment was rescheduled she canceled it, which tells me she preJUDGED my husband to be an addict, which may or may not be true, however that does not give her the right to decide MEDICALLY that he does not have TBI and refuse him treatment at Kessler which is what she essentially did by her letter sent to the VA. My husband returned from Iraq in 2007, and has only deteoriated. I went to Kessler believing that he would get the best care but now one doctor has shot that down and left him to twist in the wind, basically screwing him with the letter she sent to his Case Manager at the VA in Lyons, NJ. If a negative rating were availabe that is what I would give her -1...
