Having lymphoma (cancer) and being immunocompromised, and finding out I had no protection against measles, my oncologist suggested I go for a consultation with an infectious disease Dr to see if could get the MMR shot & how to get IVIG if exposed to measles. Those were the goals we agreed on when I began speaking with Dr Rowe. We agreed she would put through an insurance pre certification for the IVIG. It was quickly denied, and the insurance company stated it didn’t qualify. This is because it was put through incorrectly for my cancer. My cancer is stable so I don’t need IVIG for that. As we discussed it needed to reflect my immune compromised status if I should be exposed to measles, i.e. my ultimate goal of my protection we discussed. She never got back to me about the denial regarding an appeal or next steps. When I reviewed my file, I saw also that there was no record of an important phone conversation we had.
