Dr. Ken Charles Arakawa, MD

I recently started seeing Dr. Arakawa at Queen's Medical Center for my left knee pain. I observed that Dr. Arakawa is very knowledgeable, great bedside manner and very easy to talk to. He placed me on medication that has relieved my chronic pain of more than twenty years. I can sleep better, moving in and out of my car is not taxing and overall feel like there is hope now. I've seen an orthopedic surgeon before but they recommended I see a specialist. I am very happy with Dr. Arakawa's office. Recommend him highly.

All I can say is that I'm glad I got a 2nd opinion and went to Dr. Ken Arakawa. He is thorough and patient and I would recommend him highly to whoever needs a Rheumatologist Doctor.

Refused to treat me any further since I had other problems that could conflict with my arthritis. Doesnâ??t discuss much of anything. Misdiagnosed me. all he could say is â??I donâ??t knowâ?? so - why not send me to somebody else, or do some research!!!!!!! Obviously I wasnâ??t very important to him!!!!

This is a doctor who needs to be humbled. He wouldn't listen to patient and would even blame your condition back to you. With seeing too much patients that a decent doctor should handle, every time you see him, it's back to zero. He would start doing the same palpation, same question, like a new patient to refresh his memory. And the worst part, conversation is one way. No patient input or else he would treat it offensively.

He doesn't listen and jumps quickly to his own conclusions. Very knowledgeable and well-intentioned, but seems to be hurrying all the time, due to an overloaded booking schedule. Plan to wait over an hour each time you see him. It's hard to communicate with him and he lacks people skills. You will leave without having all of your questions answered because he brushes off questions, believing he knows best what to tell you.

I am waiting ths review while sitting here in pain AGAIN after many visits, which included many x-Rays and blood work to wich I had to ask for the results after a number of visits after they were done. Even after I gave this "doctor" other MRI and E-Ray reports that stated multi level impingements, herniated discs, torn disc, bone spurs, disc compression and lesions throughout my spine this "doctor" not only did not acknowladge my reports in his notes but did not acknowledge my systems and told me "his" x-Rays only showed minimal osteoarthritis. Then as my main complaint was inflammation in my hands that resulted in bilateral surgeries in both hands and after this "doctor" diagnosed me with soriatic arthritis, he never e-rayed my hands and made claim in my reports that suggested I was faking my system so I could get vocational rehabilation help from DVR (note, I haven't been able to work in over three years) To add, after "again" informing this "doctor" of having oastiopina with a… -2.2 in my hips and -.9 in my t-spine, and share my concerns about previous steroid/cortisol injections as well as two mythy packs, he insisted on giving me another steroid injecting THEN about two weeks later he put me on a daily regemin of 10mg of prednisone to which I also shared my concerns about continual use of such Meds and there effect on my bones. There is much more to be said about miss diagnosing and over medicating and his 3-5 minute consultations but I feel they are best said to the medical review bord and a Lawer. I personally feel that Mr. Arakawa is dangerous and if you chose to see him, you should do your homework prior to accepting his recommendations

I have referred patients to Dr. Arakawa for the past 18 years and my patients have had nothing but high regard for him; he follows up on the care he provides for them with the primary care physician; I do feel he has one of the

Waiting time once signed in is very long. I averaged at least 45 min to 1 hr. Time spent with each patient is also short, maybe 5 minutes. Every visit I've been to there has been an x-ray or blood test. Staff is friendly and Dr. Arakawa is friendly. Seems to be competent in his field and so far has helped with my problem. Aside from the wait and tests on every appointment I am happy with Dr. Arakawa.

I highly recommend Dr. Arakawa. I was diagnosed with Lupus and Dr. Arakawa made sure my questions were answered and comforted me through the visit. He is very personable. I'm glad a friend of mine recommended him... His staff was also excellent. His receptionist was friendly and smiled when I walked in even after being 5 minutes late to my first visit. His nurses was also excellent. What I liked about the office is that I didn't have to go drive somewhere else to get my blood work done.

This Doctor will keep you waiting - he kept me waiting on my 2 appointments over an hour. He did a real slap job and spent less than 10 minutes. He refused to give me a simple cortisone shot in my knee. The staff mispronuced my last name twice even though it is a normal caucasin name. He caters strictly to Japanese people and he is kind of bossy even though I was a nurse and educated. Find another doctor and avoid the expensive parking lot at Queens POB which charges $1.00 for every 1/2 hour. I had to pay 5 dollars just to park for this doctor. AVOID THIS DOCTOR!!!
