Dr. Ken Mason Korthauer, MD

Dr. Korthauer was extremely friendly and spent time explaining my knee replacement surgery in detail. Surgery went great and I was home in 3 days. His time spent on appointments after the surgery could be better. His office is a long way for me & to only spend 5 minutes makes me a little upset. The staff members are great and extremely helpful. Two months after surgery and my knee is almost perfect.

Bad surgeon... Had to have a second knee replacement to fix his screw up due to his inability to align the leg.. went in with a straight leg came out with a 15 degree angle to the out side of the body putting undue pressure on the ankle and the thigh bone..

I do not agree with the negative comments on this page. Dr Kourthauer was thorough, addressed my concerns, gave me options, and had surgery scheduled within a week. His staff, both front and back office, are some of the kindest and most caring I’ve dealt with in a very long time. Someone mentioned he should be a comedian... he is quite funny-which I appreciated. I was upset about my condition and his kind humor helped calm me. I will see Dr. Korthauer again in the future and I’m confident the outcome of this visit will be as positive as the last. KM

After a very brief exam he diagnosed severe pain and weakness in my shoulder and upper arm as bursitis, fave me an injection of novacane and steroid, insisted that would fix it, if it started bothering me again in a few months he'd give me another shot. After more weeks of pain and suffering, with no pain med except over the counter tylenol and my arm muscles by now showing atrophy, I went to another orthopedist, well recommended though an extremely long drive for me. Now MRI had verified a 3/4" long rotator cuff tear at the top of my should. I'm considering writing Medicare to inform them he didn't earn whatever they paid him.

Will NOT go back to this doctor.

I went to see Dr. Korthauer for shoulder pain. I waited for him 40 minutes but that was not the worse, he only spend with me 4 minutes including the time for a steroide inyection, while I was describing a pain in my other hand, he basically run out the door saying he didn't have time, so I told him "but I was wainting for you for 40 minutes and I need to explain to you another pain in my left hand and you just spent 4 minutes!" He said "I am sorry I have to go". When I made the appointment, the secretary of the clinic told me that you can only show two body problems, not more than two body parts in one appointment, what I was trying to do, but the doctor just left us hanging".

Didn't seem to know what caused my injury or what it was, spent about a total of less than five minutes with me, didn't ask me very many questions, just proscribed me Tylenol three. Didn't seem to have much knowledge ,perhaps was too concerned to get out by 4 to try to explain or figure anything out. My appt was at 3:20 and he came in the room about 3:40. He over schedules appointments and I'm pretty sure that's why he was with me less than five minutes. Doesn't seem like he cares much about patients.

Want to say don't waste your time. How he runs a practice is beyond me. He must be psychic because he diagnosed me without touching my body. He needs to quit his day job and try comedy. He is very condescending and wouldn't recommend him at all. Hope you read his ratings before you go there. Wish I would have. Bad life lessons are the best. His staff is also the worst.

Was very disappointed in the doctor he didn't even look at any of the mri cds that I brought with me my pcp referred me to him for hip burcitis and he said that the xray didn't show anything. The xray does show hip burcitis from my reg doctor when he gave me results, he rushed thru my appointment gave me a cortisone shot and that was it wouldn't refer this doctor to no one.

While Dr Korthauer was king, patient and helpful his office staff (not nursing staff) leaves a lot to be desired. They were not familiar with proper insurance filing with Medicare as a secondary carrier. The were not helpful and canceled a PT appointment on me due to their lack of knowledge.
