Dr. Kendra Marie Irizarry, DDS

Dr. Irizarry was literally the worst medical professional I have ever worked with. My wife got her wisdom teeth extracted and the entire experience was terrible from start to finish. Dr. Irizarry was extremely rude, rushing the procedure and literally scolding my wife for having a panic attack. When we asked how long the procedure would take, she responded 'longer than it should because she keeps squirming around'. The lack of bedside manner was almost comical. On top of this the appointment started almost 45min late. I do not feel as if this surgeon had the patients best interests at heart at all. Everything about her demeanor was rude and rushed. Avoid this surgeon.

You'll notice quickly that the high reviews for this establishment are vastly for Dr. Ostuni. That's for a reason. Bottom line: Keep FAR away from Dr. Kendra Irizarry.  Dr. Irizarry has no bedside manner. I was incredibly anxious about the procedure and chose to do it under general anesthesia. She didn't leave a warm impression during our initial meeting but  when I had asked to switch to Dr Ostuni he wasn't available. This was red flag number one and really should have listened to my instinct. She's not booked for a reason.  I came into the office with striking pain after the wisdom tooth removal. She inspected sticking her whole finger forcefully in, poking as hard as she could. I winced and gently touched her hand gently to let her know I was in pain. She sternly said, "Don't ever touch my hand!" She rolled her eyes and sighed loudly as if really annoyed.  Really?! As a dentist you're going to become dysregulated when someone in intense pain touches your hand to indicate pain… because you're hand is in your mouth and can't speak? She then told me that she needed to use a needle to numb the area again and that it would hurt. Given her lack of gentle touch I please, can we go slowly. She, already upset, said, "This is going to hurt no matter what. That's the end of the story." I said I understood that it would hurt but going slowly should help. She quickly dismissed my feelings and I asked to switch doctors immediately. Dr Ostuni kindly saw me after this. He took a cotton swab and gently inspected the area, letting me know beforehand ever step and what to expect. He took out sutures which he said could cause irritation, and said given that I had no sign of infection he thought it was more muscular in nature. Why Dr. Irizarry didn't take out the sutures to ease some of the discomfort - I have no idea. I didn't object to the inspection with a needle and I don't want an infection, but he said it wasn't needed at the current moment.   The only thing I would trust in Dr Irizarry's hands is a jackhammer. You've been warned.
