Dr. Kendrick Hall Owings, MD

My husband went to see Dr. Owings today with my 2 year old son. This is the 1st and only time we will ever see him. He had the flu, fever and cold systems for the past 6 days. Yesterday he woke up with a swollen eye and today it was worse. We took him in to see Dr Owing who we told all this information to and he barely checked him out and told us it was a stye. I could tell from looking at my son it was not a stye. Not only that but, it was too much of a coincidence that he had a stye right after having the flu. He told us if it got worse throughout the day to take him to emergency. My first thought is WHY are we being told to go to emergency when we are in doctors office. If he seriously thought it was a stye there would be no reason for that. I trusted my instinct and had my husband take him up to urgent care, they diagnosed him with Orbital cellulitis, if this condition goes untreated it can cause the child to lose their vision!!!!

Worst diagnostic doctor ever....do not take your child to this doctor....there are several other doctors in the same practice that are wonderful!

I have 3 children and am married to a physician. I don't rush to a dr. This was my 1st visit with Owings. My 14 mo old son has been running a fever on/off for the past 9 days, hardly eats, and constantly wants to be held and consoled. He was diagnosed with an ear infection last Wed by another dr in the clinic, but the fever still comes and goes and he now cries/screams in pain for upwards of 30 minutes at times. He wants to be held, but is inconsolable. Dr. Owings suggested my son is having temper tantrums. (Never mind the lingering fever or ear infection) "See how he gets upset when I come close?" he says, "Nothings wrong. It's just his age". "Don't be surprised if he throws things, too." Then he examines him and states there is nothing wrong and doesn't need meds. I tell him he has been on Amox. for 5 days for an ear infection. He says, "Well then, I see no need to change it". Didn't even bother to read the chart. About not eating, Owings jokes, "Get used to it. He won't eat… again till he's 7. Thats how kids are. This man is arrogant, condescending, and irresponsible. He was in and out in less than 5 minutes. And I still have a baby with a fever who wont eat and is crying in pain.
