Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I attended nursing school after graduating from high school with the goal of helping other people. After I overcame my fear of blood and needles, I gained experience working in critical care, emergency care, and trauma as a registered nurse for eight years. Following graduation with my master's degree in Nursing and passing my National Nurse Practitioner certification, I started working in family medicine. I am able to help other people each day with my career as a nurse practitioner and I can't imagine doing any other kind of work.What I want my patients to know about me:My husband and I have four children. Three daughters and one son. I am a Lancaster county native. I grew up in New Holland and my parents still live there. I have been working as a family nurse practitioner for the last 18 years. I love establishing relationships with my patients and their families. I enjoy assisting and educating patients about their health and management …of their chronic medical problems. What I do when I'm not seeing patients:When I am not seeing patients at work, I am taking care of my family. I enjoy spending time with them. I also enjoy exercising at the gym. Yoga is my favorite. I enjoy reading, movies, gardening, kayaking and hiking outdoors. I love to cook. In fact, most of my time at home I'm in the kitchen preparing meals for my family.
