Dr. Kenneth Tagle Abjelina, MD

I saw Dr. Angelina for 4 years for depression, anxiety, adhd medication management. He doesn’t care at all about patients. He misdiagnosed me with bipolar & put me on Latuda which didn’t help bc I spoke to another psychologist & psychiatrist who actually took the time to get to know me and didn’t treat me like a number. He barely makes eye contact with you during appts, he just focuses on writing the scripts. I’ve been suffering with mental health for 17 years and was so depressed for relief from my suffering I was in a fog. That’s what you need to watch out for and be an advocate for yourself. Only YOU know your body bc YOU are the only one with your body 24/7. So if you don’t advocate for yourself which I didn’t bc I was so stuck in my head, medication isn’t always the solution. 20-30% of people that suffer from depression won’t benefit from antidepressants AT ALL & I’m one of them. My new psychiatrist is the one that informed me of it and I looked into it myself which he highly… encouraged and found it to me true! Antidepressants are marketed as ‘miracle drugs’ or the answer to all your problems, but BEWARE! The side effects which you need to make sure you know about bc they often are worse than the actually meds, for example, when the ad say ‘can cause suicidal thoughts in teen and young adults’...I Admittedly & sad attempt suicide 3 times & I’m 33 now. ‘Young adults’ needs to be more specifically defined. What is a young adult? I don’t think he should be practicing medicine. He’s a salesman. He also put me on Trazadone for my sleep problems & my new doctor tapered me off of it bc it’s actually one of the most fatigue causing antidepressant sleep aids. I feel like he hasn’t kept up with the everyday changes and advancement with new techniques and therapies available for mental health. It’s just medication & that’s it. He’s not the first doctor to treat me this way, but my new doctor who I’ve had for 3 years has opened my eyes to what an honest doctor who cares and keeps up with the continuous changing discoveries, studies, etc in mental health looks like. My new doctor also doesn’t like to PUSH the endless supply of antidepressants that are available. I was on 8-9 prescription meds under Dr.Kenneth Abjelina’s care, it aucks bc I trusted him and felt like he took advantage of my situation & I was blind to what was actually really going on. My new doc has weened me off everything doctor Anjelina put me on except the Xanax, we are working on weened me off. It’s taken me over 3.5 years to get off everything Dr. Abjelina prescribes, but I feel SO MUCH off meds, than I ever did on them. Now I’m in an IOP (intensive outpatient program) & seeing my therapist, going to church, slowly regaining my energy. I still have chronic insomnia but I’m taking RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) that you can get from a dispensary, it’s used for patients with cancer, but it’s natural & it’s the only thing that can help me peaceful, calmly & soundly combined with 1 Xanax & 1 Benadryl tablet that I dab the sticky RSO oil on. Protect your Body, respect your body, ask doctors as many questions as you can. They don’t have all the answers so you have to advocate for yourself to better have peace of mind. DO NOT GO TO HIM! I feel sad saying that, but I’m being honest and hope my experience with him helps you make a sound judgment call. Always go with your gut & heart, they are your second brain, especially when your brain brain isn’t functioning the way you need it to. Don’t be fooled by the candy store of meds being offered & samples they give you for free. I’m done with drug manufacturers & doctors robbing me of my joy & hard earned money. Life’s to short to take meds you don’t know & doctors don’t know the long term effects until they get enough people desperate to find relief and to really see how the meds effect them & the damage is done to YOU, not them.

When I was desperate for help for my son. Dr. A stepped up. When I needed documentation he did it. When I had a concern about meds he answered... though it took him awhile. The BEST part is. He kept it real. He told the truth about how long the fight was going to be. I will always appreciate and have a special place in my heart for him . With respect !

He took time in evaluating my son and really knows well in treating his patients.

The fact that Dr. Abjelina has the welfare of mentally ill patients in his hands is morally reprehensible. My only hope is that the reason for his negligence in caring for my mental health was his preoccupation with the diagnosis and care of his child patients... However I doubt that very much. It is impossible to schedule an appointment and on the off chance that the phone is actually answered the staff are rude and unhelpful and emergency appointments are never available. Even accompanied by the plea that my meds were no longer working and severe, dangerous depression was setting in, I was still booked for an appointment 2 months out and told to "hold tight". Also, when in need of a refill this doctor suddenly has an ethical code of conduct and insisted I schedule another 2 month out appointment. Apparently he is more comfortable with me going completely off my meds than he is with refilling without the face time. Dr. Angelina doesn't see faces, he sees dollar signs. How sad that… this is what healthcare has devolved to in our country. If you care about your mental wellbeing I highly recommend seeking out a different doctor. If you are looking for a monkey with a prescription pad, Dr. Abjelina is your man. I feel violated that I am being forced to rate him even one star on this review.

This is a Person that should not even be practicing as a doctor, he Told My 17year old son that people that any one that has physcosis will all wine up in a Mental home for the rest of their lives. He should be stoped!!! from even given meds. He's lucky i'm caring for my son or I would have broke his Face!!! Stay alway from This Looser.

What was most memorable was that this doctor is a phony. He is arrogant and does not care about his patients at all. You should stay away from him at all costs. He is only someone that you should go to if you are trying to scam the system for money If that is what you are looking for then he is the guy. He will write whatever you want for money. He does nothing in reality from his patients but take half of your money so that you can continue to get your benefits. He is not at the Berendo Office and he does not practice at BHC Alhambra Hospital or El Camino Hospital. Those are lies to make him look credible. He does not have an office. The Berendo office is the dental office of his wife.
