How can a family medicine doctor do liposuction and Brazilian buttock lifts? I don't think family medicine doctors have any surgery training. Isn't liposuction surgery? I would recommend going to a plastic surgeon to have liposuction. What if Dr. Byom causes a complication, he can't admit you to a hospital to manage his complication.

I saw this "Doctor" in 2015. I was in a homeless shelter at the time. I will NEVER forget the initial interaction. He started our appointment with a 35 minute sales pitch for his diet shakes. I, softly and politely, stated I was homeless and had no money for anything. I was also restricted to the diet the shelter provided. He seemed agitated and prescribed me phentermine. I was diagnosed as bipolar in that time and was pending insurance approval for more. I was told that I had to lose ten pounds to continue the medication. Over the course of 30 days, I lost eight pounds and my sanity. My heart raced. I heard voices and my manias wouldn't stop. I never knew if I was coming or going. I couldn't sleep more than 35 minutes a night. He told me: Seeing as you're mentally ill already, this isn't my fault. Talk to your shrink about raising your dose. I talked to my therapist, my psychiatrist and care team. I stopped immediately. I went through withdrawal and that physically hurt. I returned… twice more to be prescribed medication that would interfere with the anesthesia for a pending gallbladder surgery. This "Doctor" borders on negligent. Please be advised that a patient's safety is paramount.

It is clear some of these reviews were written by a single disgruntled patient. Weight loss can be a challenge and Dr. Byom offers real solutions that most other physicians don’t. He has really worked with me to accommodate my schedule and I’ve experienced wonderful weight loss results. As with any weight loss plan, one must follow and stick to it. I was able to stop my blood pressure medicine within 9 days of following his diet plan. My blood sugars went from pre diabetes to optimal. I had more energy and my joints no longer hurt.

He should Make sure he can do what he says, before opening a new business.

It sounds to me Dr. Byom is just as much of a lousy Dr as he is a lousy date. After my experience with him on a personal level, I would NEVER consider seeing him on a professional level. I would strongly advise everyone considering becoming a patient of Dr. Byoms to seek another physician.

Stay away! States in his video he likes to get to know family members to better treat his patients. Not the case. When he was notified of side effects of a medication my family member was having that he prescribed he totally dismissed the conversation and became very arrogant and told family members they shouldn't believe everything they read on the internet (which is true to some degree but there is also a lot of valuable information out there for patients). Degraded family member by telling them they don't have a medical degree (which isn't true). Then he made the remark that family is just jealous because he is loosing wt. Excuse me! Family is extremely happy he was loosing wt., but it shouldn't happen at the expense of possibly causing him to take his life because of side effects related to the drug (Phentermine). When notified that the patient was exhibiting signs and symptoms of being paranoid, hallucinations, depression, insomnia, and finally suicidal instead of having him come… in to the clinic that day for an evaluation he pushed it off on his primary doctor. Excuse me! Dr. Byom was the prescribing doctor and should have seen him stat! Now that his primary doctor got involved he all of a sudden wants to see my brother. Sorry Dr. Byom you showed your true colors and are not concerned about the health of patients but more like concerned about whatever kick back you may be getting from the drug company (Vivus) to push this lethal drug on people! Anyone reading this I ask you to do your research on the Phentermine. Numerous cases of suicidal thoughts, depression, irrational thinking, tachycardia have been documented! The FDA needs to pull this drug off the market! And finally this Dr. Byom didn't even know that the recommendations for stopping the drug. He told my brother to stop taking the drug completely and it in fact should be tapered due to the potential for seizures if stopped abruptly even if the person has no history of seizures. Think hard about starting any of these weight loss drugs and be sure to do your research, ask questions, a good place to start is by asking your pharmacist!

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this quack. My brother has been seeing him for a little over 7 months and has been taking Phentermine that Dr. Byom prescribed. My brother is now suicidal, has severe paranoia and is suffering from depression. He did lost about 80 pounds but at what cost. We contacted the doctor yesterday and made him aware of my brothers condition and instead of seeing him promptly and having him come in he advised him to see his primary doctor and then come back to him. Doctor Byom created this problem by giving my brother an unlimited supply of diet pills and now that my brother is suffering he decided to pass the problem on to my brothers primary doctor. Stay away from this doctor at all costs please and find a doctor who is truly concerned. I also just completed the paperwork and filed a complaint with the state because in my opinion this doctor does not have your best interest at heart....Bye

This doctor is rude, arrogent, and highly incompetent in my opinion. I went to see him for weight management and he started out the appointment by insulting me. Then, he went on to give me advice that completely and totally contradicted with what my registered dietitian had been telling me. He continuously checked his pager during our appointment and acted annoyed that I was asking so many questions. Finally, he told me that he knew what he was talking about because he had treated "thousands of patients" and basically knew my body better than I did. He actually yelled at me to the point that he left me in tears. At this point, he told me I needed to start seeing a pychotherapist. There is not an ounce of compassion in this man! If you are looking for someone to support you in your weight loss journey, rather than a heartless drill sergeant, move on and find different practitioner.

I am always very happy with Dr. Byom. He is always very nice, and listens to what I have to say. Great doctor. Don't have a complaint.
