Dr. Kenneth Eugene Goolsby JR., MD

Dr. Goolsby and his Staff are Excellent! I have been a patient for over 19 years. Rob Finley, PA. has stood by me through the darkest days of my life. He is the most caring, considerate, professional, Mental Health Provider I have ever had. His staff are supportive, polite, and caring as well. I am a compliant patient which is Extremely important. I see Rob on a monthly basis. I have never waited over 15 minutes to be seen but I am also punctual. Over the years, I have had to call to be seen early during a "rough patch" and have always been seen. They know if I call, it's serious and I have never taken advantage of that. I Highly Recommend this practice for Mental Health needs.

I would rate zero stars if I could. I've never met Dr. Goolsby. I only saw his PA, Rob. Rob is rude, dismissive, and imprudent. He doesn't listen to your concerns and does all he can to ensure you fit into his perfect little box. My original concern was PTSD. I've had cancer TWICE in two different years back to back. Without even listening to what I was experiencing, he cut me off with "Cancer isn't traumatic enough to cause PTSD." Umm. Have you had it?! Every doctor I've discussed my experience with has replied with "WHAT?!" In short, don't use them. It's a waste of time with people who only want to push depression meds instead of actually helping someone. By far the worst psychiatrist I've ever dealt with.

He is NOT taking new patients. Do not select this practice based on the amazing reviews from past patients. You will be placed to see a completely unqualified nurse practitioner or possibly the PA. The physician himself is NOT taking new patients. The office staff informed me several times, despite needing to ask him questions about the treatment prescribed by the NP. Its unfortunate, because apparently he was a very amazing doctor.

When I first became a patient at Goolsby and Associates, I was satisfied with all of the physicians and my treatment. Unfortunately, at the end of 2019, I was given a dosage of Prozac which is generally not prescribed. I began showing signs of poisoning and sought medical treatment at the ER and with my general practitioner. I understand that having too much serotonin in your system can happen and was not angry with my physician or my treatment. I returned to their office but was unable to see my usual doctor; all I wanted was to get my dosages correct so I could return to normal and go back to work. I spoke with reception several times and have our conversations documented, but was told that I never called and they had no record of the issues I'd been having. I was shocked they would lie to me when I had a great relationship with them prior. I spoke directly with the practice administrator and my PA who agreed my symptoms were not normal and to stop the dosage. I was experiencing a… drastic change in mood, shaking, high temperature, cold sweats, nightmares, vomiting, etc. The administrator and PA agreed to me seeing the new physician as mine was out of town still and she was the only one available. Again, all I wanted was to have my doses sorted out. I was no angry, or placing blame on my physician. This "physician," Nicole was disrespectful and accused me of lying about my medical status. She tried to manipulate me saying that she and my GP were close personal friends and she doubted the validity of my condition. As a mental health practitioner, she should know how to deescalate a situation and provide the necessary services rather than further triggering me while I was in a very delicate medical state. I entered the office calm and looking for a solution. I left crying and in a state of panic. Nicole literally laughed in my face, which is the most insulting situation I have ever faced personally or professionally. This was witnessed by another individual as I at least had the clarity of mind in my condition to know that what was happening was not ok, and I needed someone else to see it. Following the incident I immediately went to the ER and received real medical treatment and was validated by their doctors. Their physicians agreed that the way I was treated by Nicole at Goolsby and Associates was not ok and is never ok. They provided me with other physicians in the area who are reliable and I have been happy with my treatment since. Point being, it's incredibly sad to think that these people would try to take advantage of someone dealing with a legitimate medical condition that they directly caused and try to manipulate them. Nothing about my treatment was ethical. I cannot recommend this office.

I have read other comments that complain about the wait times in this office. I sometimes have to wait when I have appointments with Dr. Goolsby. I do not mind the wait because I know that when I get to see Dr. Goolsby, he will take as much time with me as needed to understand my problems and find a solution for them. I have had serious depression and other problems, and I would gladly wait past the appointment time to see him. I much prefer to wait a while instead of seeing a punctual doctor that is not really concerned with meeting my needs.

I don't usually do reviews but Dr. Goolsby deserves this. He took time to explain my ADD in a way I understand and I am better now. He runs late but is kind and smart.

My sons appointment was at 430pm and we did not get seen until almost 6:30pm. It is crazy that everytime we go we have to wait a hour or more to see him especially when we are back there for less than 10 minutes. I do not recommend this doctor to anyone!

Dr. Goolsby cares deeply about his patients and he spends necessary time with each of his patients, providing his full undivided attention when they are with him. This may sometimes cause appointments to be later than scheduled, but his care is so helpful and uplifting that I would wait for hours to see him. He is definitely an answer to pray for me and my family.

Dr. Goolsby saved my life. It does not matter if I have to wait 20 minutes to see him, he helps me see the value of my life. His insight has helped me to keep going, along with his recommendation of really helpful meds. I am thankful for him.

Dr. Goolsby is, at best, ok. I visited the office on a monthly basis for a year, and never waited less than 20 minutes for my appointment. The staff was often unpleasant, and even hostile at times, with the exception of the lead receptionist who was always friendly. In addition, there was always an issue with payments. Whether that be lack of billing information, inability to file insurance, etc. That department is really...awful for lack of a better word. With the knowledge that other patients have had the same difficulties, I am assured this is not an isolated occurrence. When finally admitted to the office to see Dr. Goolsby, the appointment consisted of a 3 minute session of "how do you feel today" and whether or not I felt like changing my medication before sending me on my way. I was there for an appointment so the doctor could give me that information, not the other way around. Overall, I was very disappointed in the entire process.
