Dr. Maher almost killed my dad who was suffering from a heart infection. After weeks of high fever and visiting the urgent care multiple times, my met with Dr.Maher after I told him I was concerned about this being hear related. Dr.Maher disagreed with me and said my dad needed to see his PCP despite my dad’s heart condition of mitral valve regurgitation which is a huge risk factor for a heart infection. Dr.Maher said “I doubt an infection would seed in the heart, he should have his kidney checked since he had white blood cells in his urine”. My dad also had a negative UTI culture and heart infections can cause white blood cells to increase throughout the body. He insisted my dad wait 3 days to talk to his PCP and if all else failed, return to him. We finally met with the PCP and she nearly made my dad get an x-ray until I chimed in and said enough. Something more needed to be done because he’d already had an x ray. She ordered a blood culture and the next day told him to go to the ER… right away where they confirmed he had a heart infection and would have died if he hadn’t gotten help right away. He had a 1cm growth on his heart valve and the ER cardiologist said his symptoms were classic Endocarditis and anyone could have seen that. Anyone except the negligent Dr.Maher of course. Please do not risk your life and go with this man. He also refused to take any accountability and blamed the urgent care doctor for all of this despite us begging him for help.

Thanks to Dr. Mahrer for intervening in a heart attack caused by a blocked stent. Thanks to him I am alive and functioning.
