Dr. Charles Kenneth Mitchell JR., MD

I loved Dr Mitchell. Was told I would be getting my call to continue that next day or Monday. It's now been 10 days & no call. I have left a mssg, Today will be the 48 hrs recording said to return calls. Makes me a little nervous if I have an issue and can't get ahold of anyone.

Dr. Mitchell is AWESOME!!!!! He did my surgery 10 years ago in Pinehurst. I saw him today(10-8-2020). He treated me as if I had my surgery a week. He remembered details about me. He was kind and compassionate. I had tons of questions because he is the only one stills does gastric bands and he was patient and answered them all without passing judgement on what I had forgotten. It was so worth the 3 hour drive from NC.

Dr. Mitchell did gastric bypass for me approximately 11 years ago when he was at Pinehurst Surgical Center. I was severely obese; prediabetic; high blood pressure; hard to breathe; hard to walk very far. He was tough on me but I did what he asked. He is not very available to his patients and does not show much emotion as far as personality. I guess he has to distance himself. THE MAIN THING IS HE IS AND EXCELLANT SURGEON AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. HE DOESN'T NEED TO BE YOUR FRIEND -- HE NEEDS TO BE A GOOD SURGEON. I lost approximately 180 lbs and have only gained back 16 lbs. I am 70 years old this year and NO diabetes, No high blood pressure, No trouble breathing, No trouble walking except for arthritis. I mow my own yard, work in my garden, help look after my grandkids, and great grandkids. My only wish is that I could afford to get the extra skin removed and a little body shaping. My husband passed away and I only have social security but due to the gastric bypass I am… in pretty good condition for 70 and very blessed to have the active lifestyle I do. I appreciate Dr. Mitchell very much.

It took me a while to locate Dr. Mitchell, but it was well worth it. I was the 2nd VA patient to undergo the V-bloc procedure. He took the time to explain the procedure and even showed me the device that would be implanted. He even had his office schedule the pre-surgery visits together so that I could save on the number of trips since I would be driving from Columbia. His office staff is the kindest staff I have ever dealt with connected with a doctor. I am very pleased with the results of the procedure and I am looking forward to a much healthier lifestyle thanks to his staff helping to monitor me. Thank you Dr. Mitchell for caring so much.

Wonderful doctor, terrific staff and great hospital experience. I had lap band surgery at another hospital and it was not effective for me. I went to see Dr. Mitchell and we discussed my options and I decided to have it removed and have gastric bypass. It took several months between surgeries to heal and work with his nutritionist and psychologist. I was in the hospital for two days, the staff was wonderful. I went home after two days with no pain. The first month I had weekly visits and then they are monthly and less frequent. The difference between Dr. Mitchell and my previous doctor is the staff of support that he has assembled. I credit much of my success to their care and expertise. If you are looking for help to lose weight and keep it off, I highly recommend Dr. Mitchell and his staff.

Awesome doctor and staff...love them, they gave me my life back. I will never be able to thank Dr. Mitchell and his staff enough.

Dr Mitchell has the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever been to. He truly cares about his patients! I am very lucky to have him as my doctor. His staff is top notch too!

Very happy with everything Dr. Mitchell told me and very happy with the meds he gave me. Great clinic and very happy with the professionalism of the staff.

In a hurry to make a few extra bucks before moving to Charleston, I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Mitchell. I had a Carcinoid neuroendocrine tumor, not gall stones. He opted to do gall bladder surgery knowing he would not be there to follow up after the removal. He left the area the next day. A conscientious doctor would have referred me to another doctor, who had time to run the numbers on my liver functions and provide true medical care. Thank you Mr. Mitchell, I have 3 months to live.

the surgery was a failure and the only explanation he would give was that I was in the 5% of patients that the surgery did not work for....no follow up with nutritional counseling as given and lost a total of 50 lbs while drinking ensure/boost, once eating again the weight loss stopped. Six months later I have had to be reopened for additional surgery and 4 hernia repairs thereafter.
