Summary
Dr. Ken Norwood lived in several parts of the country growing up including 5 years in South Carolina and another 5 years in upstate New York. He played baseball and was on the swim team in both high school and college. His interest in children began early with a counseling job at a YMCA day camp in his teen years. Dr. Norwood met his wife Anne at Davidson College. They’ve been married for 29 years and have two grown sons. Dr. Norwood attended medical school on a Navy scholarship and eventually spent a gratifying 26 years in the US Navy. Duty stations in the Navy included Portsmouth, Virginia, Pensacola, Florida, and Okinawa, Japan. Dr. Norwood traveled extensively while in the Navy to do developmental pediatric evaluations on children whose families were stationed at Keflavik, Iceland, Bermuda, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Guam. He retired in 2005 at the rank of Captain and moved to Nelson County, Virginia. Dr. Norwood loves everything about working at the Kluge Children’s …Rehabilitation Center, including his patients, their families, and the KCRC staff. When not at work, he and his wife enjoy gardening, hiking, and canoeing.
