I grew up in Sparks, only two blocks from our dental practice, and I truly care about the people in my hometown. I enjoy taking great care of my patients, and I love coming to work each day to see great friends and meet new people.
Education and Continuing Education
Before becoming a dentist, I attended local schools and the University of Nevada in Reno. I received my dental education at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, graduating in 1982. Since opening my practice, I have continued my education through professional courses and study groups, constantly striving to stay abreast of the newest dental practices that will benefit my patients.
Locally, I am a member of the Sierra Society for Dental Excellence, which is a group of general dentists and specialists who meet to discuss the newest advances in clinical dentistry. We share knowledge and ideas about how to improve our practices and our clinical results. We …also bring in some of the top speakers in the world to teach us about the latest advances in dentistry.
I am also pleased to have been elected to the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an international organization dedicated to the advancement of high-quality dentistry. As part of my continuing education, I am also an active member of the American Dental Association, the Northern Nevada Dental Society, and the Seattle Study Club. Our patients benefit from my continued dental education by receiving the most up-to-date care in the most comfortable setting possible.
In the Practice
Dentistry is all about trust, and I am honored that the patients and families who come to see us have faith in my knowledge and abilities. I never take this for granted, and always strive for perfection in every visit, from a routine checkup to a complex procedure.
It all starts with having a great team. I am blessed to have some of the most wonderful and talented people to work with every day. They share my vision of having our patients experience a warm, friendly environment every time they visit our office. They are committed to providing a high level of dental care. They come from a variety of training and experiences. This gives our patients the benefit of a broad background to better relate to each individual patient.
My patients are my friends and neighbors, and I enjoy getting to know them personally, because the connections I make inspire me to always do my job better. I love educating them about dentistry, what procedure I am performing, and how to take great care of their teeth. Our practice is structured in a way that allows time to relate and care for each patient, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I want our patients to think of our practice as part of their community, filled with people who care about their well-being.
After many years of practice, I am still excited to help each individual patient with their needs, and to meet new patients. I take the time to discuss all treatment options with a patient so they feel informed and empowered about their dental care. I enjoy the variety of services we are able to provide, so each patient receives the personalized treatment they deserve. We have a wonderful family of patients, and I enjoy caring for them every day.
Family and Community
I am a Nevada native. I moved to Oregon for dental school and returned to the area to be near friends and family. I met my wife Kim at Sparks High School. She is a retired elementary school teacher. We both love spending time with our beautiful granddaughters Audrey and Eden. Our son Rian is a partner in our dental practice. Our daughter Kelli is a dentist practicing in Las Vegas, and she is married to Taylor Fowles who is soon to become a dentist. We enjoy the outdoor activities Northern Nevada has to offer. We love skiing, camping, hiking, and scuba diving.
