Dr. Kenton Parke Schrank, MD

I went to see this doctor for stage 4 hemmoroids/rectal prolapse and Dr Schrank did a PPH procedure which seemed to go fine. It was AFTER which was the problem: heavy bleeding and the feeling of having to defecate would not go away. After 3 months and no relief I was returning to the office at least once or twice a month to find out what was wrong. Dr Schrank became less and less available strangely and my waits became longer in the office, often with him being called to emergencies and unable to see me in the office and he started treating me with hostility as if there was something (other than rectally) wrong with me. My job was suffering at this point and my health was going downhill. He started charging me for each visit although it was still follow up from his surgery which wasn’t apparently healing. He just kept saying “wait”. 6 months later and I’m still having the same symptoms, my job tried to fire me, my blood pressure put me in the ER twice... Out of complete desperation I… looked up the best colorectal surgeon in Dallas and found Dr. Lichliter who works out of Baylor hospital. What he found was that Dr. Shrank had hamhandedly sewn a “pocket” into my rectum which was not healing and which was acting as a man made fistula (woohoo! Bought and PAID for!!). Dr. Lichliter did an additional surgery to fix this. Long story short: go to a specialist. Dr. Schrank is a “general” surgeon which means he knows a little about everything - go to someone who knows everything about YOUR thing. My main issue with Dr. Schrank though was his treatment of me after HIS botch!! He never even thought once that maybe his surgery was done badly, just that I was crazy or annoying. 6 months after surgery and I’m still dealing with heavy rectal bleeding, pressure, urgency and feeling of having to defecate (constantly) and my hemorrhoids hadn’t even gone away (at all!) and he’s treating me like there’s something wrong with ME, other than the fact that he’d sewn an additional hole in my rectum that didn’t belong... hmmm. Jerk. Apparently, in Texas, suing a doctor for malpractice is impossible, believe me, I tried. Due to caps on rewards lawyers won’t touch it unless it’s something that’s A. Permanent and B. completely destroyed your health to the point of permanent debilitating disability like parapalegia, but maybe not even that. Great job Texas: always looking out for the little guy (sarcasm). PS I also saw his colleague, Dr. Starnes, who was actually MORE RUDE than Dr Schrank, which was hard to believe.

I was so happy that Dr. Schrank was recommended to me....I am a very cautious person when it comes to trying new doctors....I had heard so many GOOD things about Dr. Schrank, I decided to try him. I WILL NOT let anybody else do surgery on me if Dr. Schrank can do it....He's VERY thorough,pays attention to detail and is concerned about how you feel. Very professional but has a lot of compassion and empathy...Just love him...
