If I could give zero star to Dr. Kerrie Adam, believe me I would! I had a horrible experience with her this morning, on Thanksgiving Day. I am 9 months pregnant, just about two days ago I was told that my amnionic fluid dropped from 11 from 7 over a weekend, and if it continues to drop around 5 I might need to be induced then. The nurse scheduled an emergency appointment the day before thanksgiving and result came out to be 7 again, I did have one appointment scheduled on Friday months ago to check the fluid level but I was concerned the level might drop in between Wednesday and Friday, so the doctor said I could come in next day which is Thanksgiving day for another test.
I came in this morning. Since its Thanksgiving Day I will have to do the ultrasound at the Radiology department, result came out to be 3.8 which is very low. Then the nurse said the Radiology department is not used to do the fluid level test, so Dr. Kerrie Adams will come in to do another one just to be sure.
Two… hours later, she walked in. No introduction, no greeting, the first thing she said to me was “I don’t understand why we are doing this every day”. Then she did the test very quickly and told me “it’s around 7, you don’t have to come in tomorrow”, At first I was not trying to argue with her, but she kept on and on about “I just don’t understand why we have to do this every day, after the test tomorrow, are you still going to come Saturday & Sunday too?!” The entire time she was in my room, she was mean, cold and condescending, I felt like I was being interrogated like a prisoner. I started to argue with her and cry and tell her to stop talking, she even said “ I am sorry I upset you, but tomorrow I will still be here, no matter how much you hate me, you will still have to deal with me!” It appears that the doctor believed the incompetent performance of the original ultrasound by Radiology is the patients fault.
After she left the room, I told the nurse that I do not want her to deliver my baby, actually I do not want her anywhere near my baby. I have dealt with Dr. Kim Hui, Dr. Rebecca Sandoval, Midwife Jessica from the same clinic, I had great experience with every single of them and none of them had bad attitude like she does. I came home and checked out her reviews on Google, RateMDs.com, Yelp, Vitals.com and CareDash.com, not surprised at all to find out she received a lot of negative reviews about her horrible bedside manners.
As a patient, I deserve to receive considerate and respectful care as indicated in the Scripps Patients Rights and Responsibilities Manual, unfortunately the treatment I received from Kerrie Adam said otherwise. One review I read from RateMD.com, here I quote “Kerrie, you are the one with an MD and you are the one who gets to wear the title and reap the paycheck of being a 'doctor', yet somehow you are a bully to your patients”, I could not agree more. All these negative reviews clearly reflected Kerrie Adams showed zero interest/care to the patients.
The doctors demeanor is not a simply matter of a bad bedside manner, it is an negligent act that can result in patients avoiding even the most necessary care. As can be seen in previous patient reviews and responses by the hospital, the administration is well aware of a consistent pattern of unacceptable behavior and is unable or unwilling to rectify the situation.
As for me, I am extremely disappointing and traumatized with this morning’s experience, I hope the Scripps Leadership Team can take this issue seriously and I will continue to file a formal complaint against her as well until I get a response for my concern.
